Its revealed the plot was set up by Wily who informed Sigma of Zero's true self and Sigma sought to awaken that

Interesting thing about X5 that it was originally the end of the X series and would cut off into the MMZ series, infact if you get the ending with X when Zero went Maverick it actually hints at it, but they say "no not yet" and continued the X series from there. also MMZ4 had the same credits theme as X5 did.

Yeah some one posted this at another site I visit. He had no source link so take it with a grian of salt.

It will have no relation to Mega Man X (just pointing this out, since some people might think they might choose to do that with X equating to 10.)
Both Mega Man and Proto Man are playable (it appears Proto Man will be unlockable, or become available at some point midway through the game.)
There will be DLC to play as Bass. His gameplay will be based on how he played in Mega Man & Bass.

The ’story’ is basically as such: Robots get a virus that makes them sick. Roll catches it, Mega Man has to get Wily’s help to find a cure (Wily claims he has nothing to do with it, but… yeah), and the 8 bosses each hold part of the cure.

And here is the biggy… it will be two players. No idea if story mode will be two people, or if there will be some specialized two player mode though.

And oh yes… it’s far enough along that it is already being translated into English.

The game itself was fun to play as far as an X game goes, was a far cry from the awkwardness of X7, and did pretty much feel like a Megaman X game. However, I hated the story. Sooo much. The only redeeming quality was the return of Vile, but that wasn't even explained.

The whole concept of New Generation Reploids "going Maverick at will" made no sense. What about Repliforce? What about Vile and Sigma (in Maverick Hunter X anyway)? The plot made absolutely no sense, I haaated the voice acting, and to be honest, I kinda missed Sigma having a huge Final form.

Basically, what I think that meant was that, due to possessing Sigma's dna in their copy chip, they could access the virus at will and choose to become 'infected' by it.

Honestly, I thought the story was pretty decent even if a little nonsensical in some parts (Why is Vile bacK?What the hell does having a copy chip have to do with the moon?), and was defintely better than the unfortunately mediocre gameplay.

No ladders, no water, less than stellar level design on several levels , the two 3D levels, the lack of any feeling of solidity or weight/strength behind any of your actions

It was a fun game, I just think its nothing compared to say X4

I hope that 9 was more of a "testing" to see if a 8-bit game could sell well, and 10 is the real deal - 9 felt too much like a Megaman 2.5. I mean, come the fuck on, there are so many elements from previous Megamans that were so awesome and are so welcome to the new game, and they didn't add to Megaman 9 just to make it remember Megaman 2 because somehow, everyone loves it, even though there are clearly titles more superior to it.
I'll make a list of stuff that should be present on Megaman 10:

- Slide (Megaman 3)
Taking out the slide ability was just stupid. I can even understand taking out the Charge Shot, but Slide is an ability that can be used really well on a level-design and adds an extra depth of challenge. (Megaman 4, for instance, used Slide really well in its level design, and Megaman 3 had an interesting enemy that you had to slide in order to land a few shots on him). Making it an extra ability that isn't used at all in level design was plain retarded.

- Dark Man/Skullbot (Megaman 3)
After defeating all 8 Robot Masters, you have to revisit 4 Robot Masters, with much harder stages, to battle 8 Skullbots that had data from Robot Masters from the previous game (Megaman 2). It would be awesome if you could battle 8 Skullbots, each with data from a Robot Master from a previous Megaman game.

- Bass/Forte playable (Megaman & Bass)
The difference between Bass and Megaman's gameplays was great - Bass handled stages easier, but had a hard time on boss battles, while Megaman handled bosses easier, but had more trouble on stages. This difference added a new gameplay layer to Megaman & Bass that shouldn't be forgotten.

- A Somewhat More Interesting Plot With More Characters (Megaman 8, Megaman 7...)
Megaman 9's story didn't add anything at all and didn't bring any new characters, or brought back any characters outside Auto. Fuck, not even Eddie was in there. Bass, Duo, King, and even Dr.Cossack are characters that could be brought back to make the plot deeper while still making a good cameo, pleasing fans of the characters or their respective individual games.

back to the x series for a second:

It was supposed to end at X4.
Something happened, and the made X5. This was supposed to be the TRUE ending to the series.
But, fans wanted more so Capcom forced an X6. Apparently the creator tried to force-end the story, but somehow it gets retconned in X7 and X8.

All I know is that Sigma is finally destroyed for good in X8. As in, Sigma can't come back if they make an X9 in chronological order.
So it'd need to be a timewarp story or something that happened before X8 ended.
As long as it's got the SNES graphical style and good gameplay, I could care less about the story, though.

However they should put much more emphasis on playing as Vile.
