Pokemon G/S/C Devamp Project

All of the above.

You also need to use much less black. Pokemon sprites tend to avoid it because it makes them look messy, especially with your hopelessly jagged outlines.

This sprite has been sitting around a bit on my save files so I though I might post it

How's this for improvement?

What exactly has changed?

If I were you, I'd start them over again. The line art is pretty awful to begin with, fix that up first.

Here. I'll give you a comparison close-up on what I did so far.

It's much more important that you fix the lineart before making minor changes to what you already have, though. Right now they're still very jagged and misshapen. I'd start them over, personally.

You know, I wasn't actually looking for an analysis. I was trying to point out that you keep making minor edits when you really need to make major ones, or start again, for these to be any good.

Seems Devicho did that better.

Also, when spriting, the point is to be able to express something without having to explain it too much in depth. If you come back with changes or improvements, those improvements should be clearly visible without having to circle everything.

Okay, you win. I'm starting over on Yuxie, Mesprit and Azelf. Last time, I did not do the step-by-step procedures I learned from my "How to Draw Manga" book.

Here's step one: working on the skeleton. The color I used for this step is red.

Step two: main lines. Color used: olive yellow.

Step three: arms, tails and bodies. Color used: blue.

Steps three, four, five and six are coming soon. And, as you can see, I've added four-color sprite pallets for their normal- and shiny-colored forms.

Woot! First post!
As you can tell, I'm new to the site and I want to be a part of this great undertaking. Hope it's all good.
Anyway, I did a GSC version of Combee and Vespiquen:

I've done a little spriting in the past, but this is my first devamp. Critique where necessary. Smile

They look very good! Did you really sprite them or did you just recolour an original sprite?
Thanked by:
The Combee is 100% made from scratch. The Vespiquen on the other hand, was basically just made smaller to fit the GSC dimensions... But not today!

This took me forever... But I love it so much. I'm having a little trouble with the dithering... But hope this is good Big Grin
