Question About C64 Sprite Ripping
#1
Hello! Although I've read these forums for quite a while, I've never posted to them before, so I apologize if I am asking a redundant question or posting to the wrong board. At any rate, however, I've been trying to rip the sprites from the Commodore 64 port of Athena, and though I was able to get a nice version of her walking sprite using AniGet, I've been having a bit of trouble getting all of the sprites out of it using the C64 Sprite/ CharSet ripper that I found while doing some googling on the matter. However, I think I know why this is, as all of the sprites in the game seem to be a solid white, using transparencies instead of an outline. This might be sort of an odd question, but while looking at the sprites, is there any color that it's advisable to set the pallet to in order to emulate these transparencies?

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, and I very much appreciate any feedback that I may happen to get in this thread. I'm fairly new to any sprite ripping on more than a frame-by-frame basis, so I'm sure even things that seem obvious, or like second nature, to experienced spriters are the areas in which I'm screwing up.

You may want to try out this Program: http://www.studiox64.com/c64ripr.php. You can use it to view the Sprite Data in C64-Savestates; the Website pretty much explains in Detail how to do it. I have tested it and was able to view the walking Frames from Athena:

The Head is separated from the Body, but this can be easily fixed in your favourite Image Editor.

All right, thank you very much for the link and help! I will mess around with it when I'm back on my main computer. It sounds like it'll be quite useful. ^^
