I reccomend using M&L sprites instead you can get a lot more sprites for them and I'd say they are more popular , Also I would help you but im not good at spriting

So? Occasionally they look okey, and most of that time just because they're edits, they used real sprites to begin with.

Editing sprites is pretty lazy, customs in my opinion are better no matter what as they take effort and imagination.
