KIRBY AND THE MOTHERFUCKING AMAZING MIRROR. Castle Crashers is mainly co-op, Alien Hominid is much more fun with 2, and maybe Bonk 3?
Thanked by: Phantom Killah
Ok, so the entries I can work with (and will therefore decide from) are:

Little Big Planet
Gunstar Heroes
Phantasy Star Online
The Sims 2
We Heart Katamari
Smash TV
Kirby Superstar

I can't exactly write about games I've not played without a suitable amount of reference material; and I'm not going to just steal a paragraph from Metacritic; so your anecdotes about the game of your choice is needed if I can include it.

Kirby superstar.

Wow, I don't even know where to begin.

A fuckton of powers (and by proxy, characters) to use, insanely fun gameplay, a great difficulty curve (relatively speaking, as all kirby games are easy anyway), and the co-op doesn't feel like a tacked-on afterthought.

Amazing Mirror is amazing. With all the abilities, treasures, and fun of most Kirby games you can't go wrong. You have a team of four kirbys, each a different color(which can be changed) and are all vital to the game. For example kirby may have to move an object by using his sucking force, but can't do it alone and needs help from other kirbys. Boss fights, exploration, and puzzles can be much more fun if it's a team effort (especially since they're not too bright as CPUs).

I mean what does KSS's co-op have that KAM's dosen't?

Friggin Golden Axe or Streets of Rage. Those were awesome back in Genesis.
XBL: ZRDragoon - PSN: Zubodybop - Steam: XDNESS

Ah shoot. I really should have read the first post better.

Anyways, I thought of a much better one. I'm surprised no one has mentioned this actually.

Metal Slug series (1996-2010)
These games are a series of sidescroller shooters originally made as arcade games that have since received numerous ports to other consoles and more recently, sequels on handheld platforms. They're damn good games by themselves with amazingly well animated sprites and challenging difficulty, but as with a lot of games the Metal Slug series is significantly more fun with more people. While you can't attack your partners ingame while you're playing, you will most likely find yourselves competing for points, powerups, and vehicles while having a heck of a good time beating the various levels. If you can grab one of its ports or happen to find a Metal Slug machine in the local arcade, then invite a friend and have fun. And hopefully you won't lose too many quarters.

I suggest removing the sims 2 and adding in Streets of Rage 2 or Battletoads in Battlemaniacs.

Groove, have you not played KatAM?

you'll probably want to leave beat-em-ups out since almost every arcade brawler has/had co-op and it would literally more than double your options

ironically, i can beat streets of rage 2 on my own, but with a second players is almost imposible. fun gets ruined half of the time you accidentaly hit the other player while you shouldn't.

but yeah, you should consider beat em up arcades as a whole.

oh oh, someone say "Toejam & Earl"! Heart

That's pretty silly not to include New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Baloon fight. Smile And that one Tank game for the NES. My brother and I used to play those all the time. Why? Because they were generally fun to play to start with but mostly because we could actually play at the same time. Tongue Working together for a common goal was a lot more exciting than taking turns. Co-op was relatively rare on the NES. And the level creator in the tank game sure as hell didn't hurt. Smile

And omg how the fuck did I forget the NES Sonson game????
