Not like nitram's style, and your style isn't all that unique. Can't deny I've been inspired by it and been making sprites similar to it, nor can I deny I love it, but theres many other styles similar to it.
but ya, I guess I'll start working on a style for myself.

the sprite is fine but it looks very stretched vertically (i know hes supposed ot be tall/skinny but the proportions are way off (and yes i know you already said that)

his face isn't very readable try somehting like this

Ok I'm going to say this and say this once. I looked at all the places where you and Hunter (a.k.a 1up) has joined. 1up has always joined before you. In the case of tSR Hunter has been here years before you. Infact everyone in this thread has been on this site for at least 5 years (We had a different forum before tSR merged into one) so before you go off saying "I didn't follow him here" and "I'm not copying his style" Please understand that we have seen him make sprites for over 5 years. I am pretty well damn sure that everyone in this thread knows 1up's style pretty damn well by now.

As for his style being unique, it is actually very much is so. I mean it does look like Nitram's and Punky's style but that was because 1up was inspired by them when he first started to sprite, however the thing is that I can easily tell the difference between all 3 of the styles and yet when I look at yours and 1up's I can hardly tell a difference except your sprites tend to be lower quality comapried to 1up's style. It is quite obvious that you are copying his style.

If you want to get better at spriting then do this:
~Get your own damn style
~Do something other then the same standing pose over and over again
~Go learn how the body works, learning anatomy helps.

Also you don't have to meet someone over the internet to see them post and what their art style is.

Copying and being inspired by are 2 different things. You are copying and more or less using his art as a reference rather then being inspired by him.

I go to other sites then the ones 1up goes to, in fact those are how I got here. One active one I was recently going to died (if you want proof just ask), and in a list of suggestions of other sites to go to I read about here. So I came.
No, 1up gave me all of the sites, I already looked into it. But he was always there first. It is like you found him and started to follow him and copy him.

I know you guys have been here longer then me, thats pretty straight forward considering I registered a week ago or so.
I know that that more or less helps the fact that we all know 1up's art style pretty damn well and that you should stop copying him.

1ups style isn't that unique, his skill is pretty high, but still. My sprites quality is lower because I'm not as good of a pixelartist, that goes without saying. I know my sprites are like his, but their also like others. (not very original)

Actually his style is very unique as I said earlier. I can easily tell his art style apart from other people's style except yours because you are copying him!

Thanks for the tips though, I sort of got a brain blast on what I could do for a style.
Your own style will manifest itself once you get better and stop compying other people's styles for your own artwork and not a project.

i think copying is part of the process of developing your style and technique. but try copying other things. and once thats done we'll see its fruit.
