You've shown you're more than capable of doing other (infinitely better) styles, creatures, people, etc(the orange thing in this thread for instance). Yet you continually do this cutesy garbage. when you only succeed in making the sprite shown by the OP worse, you haven't accomplished anything

I mean just take this one for instance. You obviously have no idea how antialiasing is supposed to work at all. It honestly looks like you just simply took the concept and applied it to every edge of every outline you could possibly fit it on.

answering no to this counts as an argument? :C

but to elaborate myself on what i said earlier the difference between the amount of detail and technique between the head and the rest of the body is so high it makes it look like an edit. literally and laterally the hands and feet are shit, the torso is poorly shaded and feels like you just draw the head and then said "oh fuck i have to make a body for it" and just draw whatever came to your mind and hoped for best.

I copied the outlines from two places that stands out the most: Cirno's head and her bow (1). Notice that the curve (2a) isn't smooth enough: it's easy to know where it bends (2b). This gives the sprite a rather blocky feeling (3). To counter-attack this problem, you'll need to use antialiasing in the broken spots (4).

Wow, really good! I've always liked the Classic Sonic better than the new one. Looks very "AoSTH-y". Tongue

The red circles are what needs to be fixed.
-There should be shading at the top of his eye's since his skin hangs over a little
-The shine on his stomach shouldn't disappear so immediately.
-The shading on the lower part of the shoe closer to us's light-source is backwards.
-His right arm's middle finger is flat on one side.
-The end of his second spike is a bit too lumpy.
-The furthest ear should be shaded towards the bottom since his head blocks it a bit.
-The shading on the top of the ear closer to us is messy. Too much AA.
-The shine on his right eye should be moved a pixel down, and a pixel towards his left.
-The shine on his eyes shouldn't be shaded since, they're...well...shines.

I used the crits. above and fixed up most of it for you as an example.

These are looking really great though!

sonic's top horn shouldn't jut-out that much :/

Also I'm not trying to go against you Iceman, but try explaining what needs to be fixed (like you did in the beginning of the post) instead of fixing it for Innocence later.

you never shade to show depth, you do literally the exact same thing that everyone new to art(i know you're not new but you've made this mistake for years) makes: you're shading for literally no other reason than to shade

Might I also point out that when you're having trouble AAing small things and getting the curves to look right, doing something six times larger isn't going to fix that. The line art on your newest WIP still contains the same problems that the smaller pixel art shares. The curves and bumps in the line art along with inconsistent AAing make certain areas lose the smooth curvature that you're aiming for.

It might help to look over this thread in order to fix some of the line art issues. Proper AAing can fix them, but that only comes with practice.

You're doing good, but there a good number of things that could be fixed and that could make this a ton better.

Here's a few areas that I quickly edited to show what I mean. You need to be precise with your pixel clusters and your AAing. Try your hardest to avoid banding. Practice, practice, practice! Smile

Ooh, I see! Thanks for the link. I had no idea what banding was, until now. I knew something was off in the lines, but I couldn't pinpoint what was wrong. I'mma go fix that.
