it may not even be a color count thing it might just be that you overshade everything

unless the coat is made of clay and modeled over his body, its ok.
but its true seems like 2/3 of all these colors are redundant.

it all looks too smooth, there's no sharpness or any angles at all. it makes everything look watery and flat

Aside from what has been previously mentioned, I'd definitely like to see some more attention to the face. The eyes are overly large, and a tad more attention to facial construction would be nice. The features seem to be placed randomly. The jacket also doesn't seem to imply that there is a body underneath it- by implying where the limbs and such would be, it helps you determine where certain folds and indentions are going to be.
The colors are really good, though, and I'd like to see this fixed and finished. Keep at it!

though c2b has never made any sprites at all, it must be that he tends to use that brown-pink combo.
