general rule, 1up- one of someones feet is usually directly under their head
gives them alot more balance and thats what most of your arts need ![]() fucking magnets muscles, how do they work magic all up in this bitch (07-15-2010, 12:36 AM)Zac Wrote: general rule, 1up- one of someones feet is usually directly under their headokay??????? i really dont feel like changing any of these because im already starting to hate them but i'll remember that from now on !!!

i'm not sure how making everyone look like they have a metal rod in their back is supposed to be helpful??????????
i mean i hate to sound like Every Retard Ever but, literally with /almost/ every one of your crits, my opinion is the same: there's no reason to make something look 1000000% realistic unless you're taking a photograph, there should always be some room for stylistic distortion to whatever you're working on the balance comment was a legitimate thing and i've been trying to make these guys more balanced but when you try to remove the """""""line of action""""""" from everything, it also removes a lot of the personality

not much of a critique but the amount of shades on the black man's arm makes it look really soft and kind of awkward. george bridgman's words: don't do something with 4 tones than you can do with 3. perhaps that lightest shade could be more of a highlight and specular rather than an entire area of light?
either way, yours have much more personality than chris's edit, and i feel like some stylistic direction should be allowed here, seeing how the characters look themselves. keep it up man

Wrote: i'm not sure how making everyone look like they have a metal rod in their back is supposed to be helpful??????????... yeah, i destroyed part of the lines of action in that edit by trying to give them stability. there's only one answer to this: a compromise. create a line of action which takes into account gravity/stability whilst leaving room for "stylistic distortion". think of creating a line which creates an arc, the straight side more or less at 90° from the ground (max 20° leeway imo). idk if you've made sculptures, but gravity/ and the according stability given in the line of action are fundamental. i've revised my edit to try and better illustrate what I'm saying: ![]() i hope this is better than the last edit.
I like 1up's more imo.
![]() you're making everyone do the splits

you're still doing the same thing though, the problem with the first one was this:
(07-15-2010, 04:08 PM)Skink Wrote: you're making everyone do the splits that, and on the second one you still seem to be under the impression that i intended to have him leaning forward which makes 0 sense because its still possible to stand like that ??? anyways i tried fixing the balance on them and really quickly blocked out some shading on the big guy ![]()
