haven't heard of metasequoia. :o
i use Blender. pretty much the best freeware 3d program (at least, it's the only one keeping up with the big names, afaik).
but, hmm. you really shouldn't go beyond the borders when comes to unwrapping. or maybe i misunderstood.
do you mean:
1. when you unwrap?
2. when you load your textures?
in blender, there's an option to keep your uvs constrained in the boundaries.
and it automatically resizes the workspace when loading images
speaking of unwrapping:
now to texture! <--fun part

Awesome shit, man. I like the uh, sketchyness of it.
In case you weren't aware, a board exists for Model Discussion, and it might benefit from you posting there. It would be great to have a modelling community here too~
Specs 'n' Headphones has been revamped! Check it, yo.
Thanks to Pik and Solink; they are sexy people.

groovy, can you read minds? i plan to submit after. i'd rather keep it here, though, since the more artistically inclined somehow avoid the submission boards like AIDS (which is ironic?? why the hell don't our talents submit something!)
i'll probably have to redo the textures, but for now i'll finish the whole step

There's a way to install old paint onto a Win7 OS. I forget how to do it, but I had to install it on my sister's computer, so it can be done. Just thought you might be interested in knowing that.

yeah, i tried one of those tuts online to get vista paint, but it didn't work. so i'm assuming it doesn't work on mine laptop. :/
you should try blender! i just read the other day that 3dsMax needed a plug-in to imitate the way Blender automatically unwrapped UVs. based it off blender's code, iirc. that's just damned amazing.
