MINECRAFT
Voxatron is the closest thing I know of.

From the Voxatron website: "...have no geomtric properties beyond their position in the grid. The whole game is rendered in a virtual 3d display with a resolution of 128x128x64 voxels."

3D Dot Game Heroes has a similar look, and has some animation for the characters which seems to use voxel animations with a seperate voxel model for each frame of animation, but it seems to "cheat" most of the movement, with having things move outside of the voxel grid, rotating, etc.

There are some interesting voxel NES conversions, which seem to stick to a 3D grid for movement too. Although this video doesn't show the camera rotating, others of similar conversions do.

There's another kind of animation possible, which is kinda like a 3D version of converting a vector image to a raster image. It's kinda cheaty, as there's a clear difference between what it's doing to something made from scratch with voxels, but it's pretty cool regardless of that.
Just wondering.. what server(s) do you guys play Minecraft on?

that voxelizer looks like it'd be so incredibly useful for cubeworld (mainly because CW uses much smaller cubes)

omg guys,
"The Spriter's Resource" is an anagram for "Creeper's Torture Hiss"

This must mean... Notch and Dazz are in cahoots!
2 month necropost but update

The game got out on XBOX 360 now.
Ever since, my brother plans on getting it since we had so much fun with the demo.

And I don't think you get to change your skin anymore.

Just be aware, you need an HDTV if you want to play splitscreen multiplayer. A lot of people are apparently kind of pissed about that because there was no indication one would be needed, except in the game itself after they had already bought it.

we actually have a rather large minecraft thread, which you can find here:
http://www.spriters-resource.com/communi...=minecraft

It's old and hasn't been posted in for a while, so I'll just merge this in there if you'd like to discuss it

So I've been running this server for the past few week or two.. So far people seem to like it. I've had experience running stuff like this before, including two previous servers.. So I think we've finally hit just the right setup for people to enjoy.

The IP is: mc.crossedshadows.com
Website: http://crossedshadows.com/server/

So..here's a copy/paste of some info from the site.
CrossedShadows.com/server Wrote:This is a hardcore PvP server. It's a 1.4.x server, as of this time of writing; running on Bukkit. It's plugins include: Factions, McMMO, Essentials, some anti cheating plugins, and a toggable global chat channel system (so you don't have to deal with the constant chatter of the server).

There's a book inside spawn that explains what plugins do what, and help you work your way around them.

Remember, you can do anything!

I've got a fancy little website, if you'd like to click here and check it out.

Does anyone play on 2b2t.net? It's a complete anarchy server with only minimal anti-cheat plugins going on (though it doesn't use the ore obfuscator, I think. People on the server are so bad at the game that they need X-Ray to play, hue).

I joined in close to a year ago but only made serious progress a month or two ago, no X-Ray! Unfortunately I don't think I can currently trust anyone on tSR with my base coords (coords are a major thing on this server as if someone finds your base, it's destroyed. If your base is destroyed, you could end up back at square 1 at spawn. Surviving/escaping spawn is hard as it's a desolate wasteland made of stone for about 1k blocks).

HOWEVER, I can easily meet up with anyone (especially if they're new) and supply them with what they need to make their own way. Lemme know if you're interested in some supplies and I'll make the trip. I'm over 50k blocks away from spawn though, so I could be a while Smile

Actually yeah that's another thing. Don't even think about building a base anywhere less than 20k blocks away from spawn, and do not do it in a simple straight line (like x: 15,000 & z: 0). The likelihood of base raiding increases exponentially as you get closer to spawn, regardless of how it's hidden (though having it deeper down underground lowers detection rates ever so slightly).

I've joined 2b2t, but it's so impossible due to the lack of wood...
Tsunami Bomb - The Simple Truth
We could run away
Leave behind anything paper
Not knowing where we're going to stay
When there's no Mondays

You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
When I'm in your arms, I feel safe from harm and sorrow too
You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
But most of all, nothing couldn't be solved when I'm with you

Not quite! I managed to make it, but it's just incredibly difficult. Trees are about 1k blocks out. The main decider of your survival status is if you can encounter zombies before you die.

I'm struggling now, I keep finding wood, but I just constantly starve to death before I can make my way out.
