I see, I was already improving his shoulders and the AA and i guess i take a shot a fixing the emboss feel to.
I kept some of the emboss on his tunic bcas its a lighter color and thats how they showed that in yellow if it still looks to embossy ill try to fix that up.
Is this better?

nidorino, had a lot of problems doing him.
It's overall too detailed. There's too much AA/selout, and the front legs are over highlighted. The head looks too small, but that may just be because the body looks too fat, especially near the back.
That sketch looks perfect in shape. If we could get it looking just like that but smaller, it would be flawless. A great start in any case!

It could use some more shading on the shoulder pads. It might looks better with some subtle black shadows where the shoulders/body connect, like on the Yellow sprite. Also, that dithering is... bleh. It either needs to be more subtle, or just removed. The lineart of the arms and legs is just sloppy looking. Everything else looks pretty spiffy!

Allright thanks for the crits now i have something to work off of, i included the dithering because it was in the yellow but i guess i did overdo it. As for the legs though i was hitting the bottom of the limitations so i kind had to stop going down. Ill get to work on these
EDIT: Allright i tried to fix some of it
I think the arms are a bit better now im having trouble with the legs and feet tho.
So hows it comin along?
@Kylegor, the composition is bad. Try to sketch out a better shape for him to be in (on paper, or just a larger drawing)
Then, try to match the shape and then fix shading. He is in an unnatural pose and incorrect proportions. Not saying you aren't capable of a good one, just that little tweaks will not fix this.

dammit, now I have to prove myself. I'll see if I can make something in the same general idea of your pose, but the way I would have done it (also, I am coloring only because the old sprites are special in a nostalgic sort of way).
Testosterone aside, time to break out the old wacom. (will edit with result).
Edit: rather rushed, could do better, but I feel like the form reads better, even if it could be using the space a little more efficiently, and have better shading...
Are you kidding me? No AA at all, multiple light sources, too much dithering, and not even the right color pallete, oh and a quote from you

Im sorry but i have to say this, take your own advice. Im trying to be nice but your kinda making it hard for me.
Lol. I admit defeat. I apparently only know about shading with multiple colors, this 4 shade stuff killed me. But my point still stands. His pose looks awkward. He would topple over if he was standing like that. Nintendo's sprites are either keyframe-type things, or they are actual stances. That is neither, and (even though your shading kicks mine's ass) it needs to be improved in an early stage, not through some sort of tweaking.
Okay, here I come with an actual crit then. I feel like the knees, particularly how the right foot is turned, are causing problems. Also, the arms seem long for the position, not sure about that, and the end of the left shoulder cover might look better one pixel in.
Alright a few revisions of the hitmonchan I worked on his Arm and leg lengths and his right glove mainly, I figuered I would drop this by before i head out school. I will work more on him and Machop tonight

Since no-one seemed to care about Dewgong any more, I made my own. I think one of the flippers is a little sketchy, but aside from that, I'd like some crits.
