Just to give the message to the OP you don't need to use the official colors, as long as there is a basic color then you can at least improve the palete itself. Don't fucking shit yourself out of this because there is no excuse (Even if you say your trying to make it look like whatever the fuck this is from the manga, it's still no excuse.)

I hope you're not lying to make yourself look cool or something. If you like it then they'll tease you and whatever it doesn't matter. I do things that most of TSR wouldn't like but I'm not gonna hide my occasional bad taste, the real difference is if you come off as your average immature fan or someone who's tolerable. Your defensiveness is making you come across all the wrong ways regardless of what you like.

I know you already said you'll play with the colors but keep in mind for the future that the manga is using their markers or whatever while you're spriting. They're rather different. Also, you're not really using your colors properly anyway. I think you're trying to add -too much- shading and it's coming across really pillowed and dirty and weird. A big part of the problem is whatever you're doing to those line segmenty things on his face.

Speaking of the rules I will add that it's -in- the rules not to expect people to be nice. The rules we told you to read like a thousand times.

Because Colors on Art =/= Colors on Sprites.

I think new members don't understand why TSR members are harsh. They find it unwarranted and offensive. However, besides the extra push to work harder, you have to think about it in their perspective. This place shows the example time and time again that art, age and personality all seem to correspond with each other. TSR likes their high standards. I like their high standards. It makes this place enjoyable. Normally, when a new member's art isn't up to par, members get on the offensive to push and prod. It's a -test- of the new member, because this place SHOWS ALL THE TIME (it's its own proof~) that bad art=immature person. Of course this isn't always true. They're weeding out the people who fit this category. It's a -completely necessary- operation. If they thought I sucked they would've done the same thing to me but I would've understood and pushed forward. Once you prove yourself, then maybe they'll ease up. They might still be straight-forward but less aggravated-sounding. This is a good thing. Then new members think, I don't have to prove myself to anybody! Um, yes you do. Why else did you come here? These people know what they're talking about. This is THEIR place, you have to create your own standing.
