Imagine if the game took you beyond a mansion. What if Luigi at some point went on to a haunted castle, or an abandoned amusement park? What if the game made better use of the first-person view?
What baffles me is why a lot of think Luigi's Mansion doesn't "need" a sequel because when you think about it... Nothing "needs" a sequel. How do you know what "needs" sequels and doesn't anyway? Sequels are made because a designer says "hey this was a good game, let's make another one"
I'm guessing it's because you guys must believe that when a franchise gets a spin-off that deviates greatly from its original source that the game should not spin-off into it's own franchise. Right? If that is the case I'm sure many of you thought back in the day a game like Wario Ware didn't need a sequel too.
I don't think anyone read my writing.
Oh well.
The intent of the idea is yes, you travel about the entire town where it takes place.
Idk what the towns name will be, probably Toad Town because cliches are my thing.
Uh
So yes if anyone read the idea, different crap will happen depending on how... "haunted" the place gets.
So, an amusement park, (Which has to be a division of Pinna Park from SMS, because Prof. E. Gadd was mentioned in that game, so it has to be cameo'd back.) a castle (Maybe. I want to include different ideas in the game, bring back some old Subcon references, and Luigi's ability to tap into a different world. [i.e. negative zone final smash])
The Bros.' house, Toadstool's Castle, (And eventually when the game progresses enough) and The Mansion itself.
However
As i mentioned before, the "haunted" level introduces a new aspect of gaming
If an area is totally cleaned of any paranormal activity, you can use that place as a rest area. (Although E. Gadd's little hut will always be around the corner so you can save.)
There's about 5 levels of activity, the lowest being safe, and the highest being uninhabitable without first clearing it.
Gameplay mechanics will stay the same, with new features included.
I want to introduce a 2P mode too
But
I don't see any characters there to be saved.
Also
Not just Mario, but everyone will be rescued this time around.
Okay, i'm done.
Koopaul you'd better appreciate this post
I'm guessing by the posts that Jackman has thanked in this thread he doesn't know the member base well enough to know their tone or he might just be a little slow.
Either way I'm going to say this.
Luigi's Mansion does not need a Sequel. Should Luigi have more of his own games? Well thats up to Nintendo to decide but if he does get more of his own games I personally see nothing wrong with that.
How can you tell if something needs a Sequel or not? Thats depends on how well does the thing wraps itself up, whether game, movie, book, or whatever.
Luigi's Mansion wrapped itself up to the point that there is nothing left to make a sequel out of.
Sure you could argue that Disgaea and Dark Cloud has sequels but the original games wrapped up the stories pretty well. Well the thing is that those games are not true sequels. Meaning that they do not follow the future path of the storyline that they just fed you and infact the only way they can be consider sequels is over the fact that they share characters and sometimes takes place in the same setting or has a common ground with the first game but they still don't follow the original storyline of the first game.
And before any of you start any bullshit on this, both Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest are in leagues of their own.
Also Jackman, where are you getting that George Lucas didn't plan out the whole series when it was made? The fact that a lot of the cultures and planets were pretty well thought out kinda proves that he had this thought in his head: "Hey, if this movie does well, I'll make more and if not then I'll just scrap the project but just in case I should plan ahead." and since it did well he made more.

Nice try, but didn't Super Mario Bros. wrap itself up? Mario defeats Bowser and saves the Princess. The End?
Sonic defeats Eggman and rescues all his animal friends. The End?
Luigi defeats King Boo and saves Mario. The End?

Just here to say that the only thing that motivates the production of sequels are the sales figures. Nothing else. Too Human was meant to be a trilogy; but it sucked so hard the series was canned.
Luigi's Mansion was a decent game; but it didn't sell all that much compared to quite a few Nintendo's releases in the same period. The lore has and will still show up in future games; but that's no indicator of the series itself making a return.
Specs 'n' Headphones has been revamped! Check it, yo.
Thanks to Pik and Solink; they are sexy people.

koopaul, wherever the hell you got the idea that I believe that imperfect games are the only games that needs sequels is pretty stupid.
I said that Luigi's mansion doesn't need any improvements, the game it self was excellent. I don't see what can be done to improve it with out ruining the game.
I mean, most of the ideas to be blunt are pretty assed.
Quote:-A new mansion is the center of the game but allow for exploration outside the mansion and into new areas like a haunted castle or an abandoned amusement park.Interesting, but unless they do something like SM64 and add random portraits everywhere and make the mansion some shoddy hub world, it'd take away from it being Luigi's Mansion.
-Full 360 degree viewing of surroundings. Hell no, Luigi's Mansion has an excellent camera. I mean sure the only way you can veiw the room is through gameboy horror but why add it to something with such small space? it would be a cluster fuck.
-Greater puzzles and key items to use. "You found the pump! What is it used for?" Won't argue with this one as long as they are creative
-Less hints and more freedom to explore. A greater sense of mystery and eeriness. why get rid of hints? I mean, Luigi's mansion isn't about complete mystery, and it would steer away players who aren't complete hard core.
-Side quests and puzzles to make more cash. Alternate endings ulocked the more money you have. there are already side quests in the game though, Jarvis and that Pea Sue girl or what ever the fuck her name was. you also have some alternate endings that more or less involve the mansion (of course, that doesn't entirely count.
Please, elaborate how this would make the game any better.

Sequels for Mario and Sonic back then when they first came out are not true Sequals which I'm pretty sure I already covered. Sure they all basically had the same storyline but in a way it still didn't follow the storyline of the first one, but they had new features which basically made them new games.
For Mario, his Sequals got an update in graphics, more abilities rather then just the mushroom that made you live a bit longer or the fire flower, so again This not a true sequel.
For Sonic, he basically got new characters (Tails came in game 2 although you couldn't really play as him and then knuckles came in game 3 and you could basically play as whoever you wanted) and a little more explanation to certain things, like why do you have to find all of the chaos emeralds. Oh because knuckles is a douchebag and steals them from you.
So nice try Koopaul, nice try.

Yes.
I'm honestly afraid to post virtually anything;
You guys don't exactly have a warm welcoming.
So in essence no, I don't know the member base that well.
Thanks for making that crack, it was hilarious.

Thats... Fine
I see nothing wrong with this opinion
It was nice
And had no nagging to it

Luigi's Mansion wrapped itself up to the point that there is nothing left to make a sequel out of.
True.
But there's also theology to it, which I find interesting. The boos and the mansion and whatnot. I feel it needs to be further expanded.

Never played those, but I agree with what you're saying.

Yes.

[/b]I'm just going to leave my information alone; nobody seems to share the same opinion, and this argument will go nowhere fast.
Nothing else to say there.

Also Jackman, that would basically be a game about Boos living in a haunted Mansion that they haunt. That honestly really has nothing to do with Luigi.

Shenmue is for the dreamcast, Shenmue 2 is for the xbox I believe. They're pretty much all about the story, and I think I recall hearing the story never got its end? I never beat them, so.
...I think you guys misunderstood Metaru's post though. I'd try explaining but I'm not 100% sure either!

I don't think anyone really responded to Metaru's post.
Also if the first game "never got it's end" then it was right to get a Sequel. Sorry pug, owned.
