Maru & Badnik Trooper

A rather old 3d model of the heroine of my RM2k project
Sadly, i don't make 3d stuff very often and i don't know a fuck about rigging and so on. I'm currently unable to get hand on the model file, but i will upload it next time when i'm on my PC .

click for full-size
It's the same girl as in my sig, made in Wings3d. It's the only 3d-Tool i'm able to use cause i'm to stupid for blender.^^'
For the head i used a Rokkaku model of Roll as a base. My own attempts resulted in some scary face-mutants xD There's still a hell lot to improve, and maybe someday i'll finish it

The face doesn't look feminine enough, so it'll be best to give it more work.

It looks pretty good, but seems like it should have more details on it, a lot of which could be done by texturing it. The fingers are a little stubby and the hair is kind of low poly looking especially in the front compared to the parts, but overall this looks pretty good. Like E-man said the face could look more feminine, but texturing it would probably fix that for the most part.

Don't be worried about Blender causing you problems either. It has a big learning curve, but if you can get past it you can really make some amazing stuff. I've yet to pass it by the way for a few reasons Tongue

Your off to a great start. Rigging isn't too hard once you get the basics down. As you go you learn better ways to do it, but personally I find it quite easy.

Overall, not a bad model at all. However, the only issue I can see in the future is the gender of the character being hard to tell. It's hard for me to tell in both model and sprite that she's a girl (well, tomboy appearance is what it gives me the most). I think it's my depth perception making me think of the character the same way as Zero (whom I know you based upon). I understand if you don't want to change any parts of your character, I'm just suggesting something in case such a issue arises. In my opinion, the only real changes to make the character more feminine is longer hair and give the character more emphasis on the breast/chest area (doesn't have to be a ridiculous size). I also want to apologize if I offended you. I don't mean to, just listing my opinion. As I said, you have a nice model.

Thanks for the tips and ideas, folks.
The hair was more or less a placeholder, so when i feel like finishing it someday, i'll keep the length in mind. Hair is something i find really hard to model, especially if it should have a more flowy look like Maru's ponytail.

To be honest, i was hoping that her butt would make up for this^^'
is'nt maru a boy's name?
Really? It was based on the Maru/Batsu pun which Zero and X names are based on. Pretty clear case of "did not do enough research"xD

I'm trying to find a file of my very first model for the last few weeks, but the best i could find are some pics i found in an old forum-post. It seems like it vanished from every computer where i ever used Wings3D oO'
I really tried to get into various 3D tools, but i never managed to create more than some ugly blocks. This Badnik Trooper was finished a week after i downloaded wings. I'm currently working on a remake, as i don't think that i'll ever be able to find the original.

Edit: Some progress on the Badnik

by now i'm workng on the head. The jaw already looks better than the first one but the skull looks still pretty weird.

heh it's just because my original charecter is Sephmaru
typically if u have a japanese name ending in Maru it's a boy.

Riku a boy name
Rika a girl name

it's not proven to be 100 percent acurate but typically a name ending in an A sound will probabaly a girl
i mena after all...does
Ree-Kaa sound like a boy name? Ree-Kuu could also be a girls name but it sounds more boyish...
Mara sounds more feminin...maybe too femenin for a tomboyish charecter...
maybe
Maramaru? or Marumara?
good model though, i hopes u can fix it....that badnik thing looks like a scary robot...it scares meh

Valefor, It would be an incredibly bad idea to call the character Mara.

Which also highlights that you might not be as knowledgeable about the Linguistics of Japanese as you're pretending to be. =|
Specs 'n' Headphones has been revamped! Check it, yo.

I say just stick with Maru. I have no clue if its a boy's name or not, but I've seen a number of instances of people being named names that are usually meant for the opposite gender in everyday life.

And Valfor, I'd have to agree that it'd be better if you actually knew the subject you were arguing about better.

I had never any intention to change the name anyway xD So enough of this discussion and back to the model work
BTW Here's the actual Trooper progress

I was'nt argueing anything and if i'm wrong i'm wrong. i did'nt ask for everyone to start picking on me because i made a mistake.
your model is nice, valforwing is a very idiot otakuand the worst part about this is that i'm actually part japanese....

and btw your model reminds me of my faveorite megaman spin off game, The Misadventures of Tron Bonn!

oh! I bet u could make an ausome Servebot for the custom model section!
they is like little leggo people!
