[GAME][UNPAID TEAM] Element: 6 Years past

I've been wandering the forums for awhile seeing how the community is because I've been interested in this place since I've stumbled upon it.
Let me say the community is pretty rough, But how else will people improve without knowing their flaws right? So I support all the critiques you give, As long as they're not something like you suck without any intent to help.

Anyway to the main reason I'm here:
I'm the Lead developer for a computer RPG game free for download when it's complete called Element:6 years past.

When I was reading the rules it said to show enough for proof that I'm actually working on something so here's some pics and info on the game.

The game play of the game will be very similar to the Persona series. Down from the days passing, to the Social links with different characters.
Not all the graphics in the game are original which is the reason why it's a non-profit project. For example the houses, grass, and fences are not original, I just edited them to fit with the original tiles. The Character portrait, Sprites, and message window are also original.

I don't know what style of cut scenes the game will have: For example Comic book style, slide show etc. But what I do know is that they're going to be in 3D and they'll have Voice overs.

It will also have different endings according to the decisions you make throughout it. And hopefully fun little mini games. I have two I want to try out soon that are based off of ddr and Guitar hero.

And the very important cut scenes will be movie styled. Most likely only the intro and ending of the game.

Finally, getting to the music. I think this will be the strongest point of the game. Featuring extremely talented music artist, if not the story then I think the music will be the most memorable to players.
Games Main Theme: http://www.fileden.com/files/2010/9/22/2...al_Tra.mp3
Other Music:

http://www.fileden.com/files/2010/9/22/2...space2.mp3
http://www.fileden.com/files/2010/9/22/2...ucifix.mp3
http://www.fileden.com/files/2010/9/22/2...rlude_.mp3

Of course that's only some of the game music. The music artist are all gamers themselves and they liked the idea of mine so they let me use their music for my game.

After all this you might wonder why I haven't shown any battle images. Well That's exactly why I'm here. I looked around different websites for the most talented pixel artists and I gotta say I'm more impressed by this community.
I need original battle graphics or I'll even take bases. The style I'm looking for is like Jump stars, or Katekyoushi Hitman reborn games for Nintendo DS.
I wont be needing as many as those games would though, It's an RPG game so the only graphics for characters would be Attacking, Running, Casting, Damaged, and a Special attack.
If anyone is interested in helping out let me know and I'll give you the info you need and answer your questions if you have any. Hope to hear from you soon Smile

Post this ONLY if you are in development without need of a team. Lack of proof and ANY requests for help will get your topic locked.

seriously man, seriously. a well-hid request is still a request. I'll update your tags /this time/ but people should really read the rules, not just skim over them and read the bolded words.

Thinly-veiled request aside, your graphical direction is pretty terrible. Choose sprites, drawn, OR 3D, and stick to it; instead of dicking around with all 3. They don't gel well at all, and your lack of specialisation makes them all look mediocre. Especially the sprites - they're incredibly stiff and flat. The 'anime anatomy' doesn't help either.
Specs 'n' Headphones has been revamped! Check it, yo.

I don't remember reading that, sorry ^.^;
It's just I saw the other threads with stuff like [In Development]
and [Playable] and since mine isn't playable yet I thought I had to put
[In Development]

Well, I'm not getting rid of any of the 3. I like them and so do the game fans(Not that there's much right now but whatever) And I probably should have mentioned that this is my first ever project and sprites so there's bound to be flaws. Although I didn't notice the sprites being flat, I could probably add more shading to them to make them look less flat.

That's probably why there aren't very many fans.

Listen, creating a UNIQUE AESTHETIC DIRECTION requires consistency in style throughout the whole game. Citing a game that I've cited before, Runman, part of what makes the general appearance so great isn't the fact that the artist is a regular Da Vinci, but the fact that he used his limitations to the best of his ability and blended everything together well enough for a bold, kid-with-crayon style to be present.

This game looks atrocious because of the amount of style mixing going on. Make up your fucking mind and pick 1 of the 3. Because your game isn't getting anywhere if you don't have a solid graphical direction.

You should probably just fix them from the ground up.
The anatomy is all messed up and you already know about the shading.

And Arial font is a no-no.

I'm thinking it's most likely because the community where the game is being hosted is a smallish place and doesn't get much exposure. I started off wanting to make the game all pixel but I'm not a good enough sprite artist yet, especially since I just started. I could use my other art/ other peoples skills to cover up the pixel skills I don't have, Yeah it's different but that's the way I like it. I can't just draw because well for one that's not even my drawing, it's the teams anime artist, I can't just pixel because I'm a noob at it, and I can't do all 3D art because my small laptop wouldn't able to support it. I'm thinking making this game the way it is, then later when I can remake it in 3D for it's finalized version.

If I did that they'd most likely come out the same or worse haha
The font is just there for now so no need to worry about it.

Fixing the shading won't make the sprites that much better.

You would really have to make a good sprite first.

Could you honestly imagine if any mainstream popular game combined drawn art, 3D and sprites properly? The only ones that have are so incredibly good that people look past the shoddy 3D work. Wild Arms is a good example.

Saying that however, seriously - You're either a spriter or a modeller. You can't be both.
Because if you're both, you're a shitty spriter and a shitty modeller. You spread yourself too thin.
Esspecially since you're also apparently a programmer.

I think everyone elses comments are pretty valid.

Not knowing where we're going to stay

You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
When I'm in your arms, I feel safe from harm and sorrow too
You're part of me, it's so easy to see the simple truth
But most of all, nothing couldn't be solved when I'm with you
