I don't care for NeoGAF too much, it seems alright but to be honest I question some of the things I have seen there.

It isn't you, a lot of tSR members have sticks up their asses sometimes. (I can too sometimes, not gonna lie) Let me just say that I disagree with that the makers of super meat boy did but I also hate peta so I really don't give a shit that someone trolled them but being trolled into making a parody game from the makers of the normal game is still pretty stupid.

I'm not gonna spend a lot of time on the topic of their apparent trolling of PETA, or how much I disagree with PETA. That said, I think the idea of Tofu boy in Super Meat Boy as a super-hard-to-play character that makes even easy levels hard (or at least, really long) is great. Unfortunately, they dropped the ball in his actual implementation, since it's actually impossible for him to beat a good number of the levels, including the very first one. I appreciate joke characters and all, but if you could make it so the joke character is also useful, that'd be awesome.

Am I the only one who thinks that this was actually pretty fucking clever?
I mean, any publicity is good publicity, and shit, I'd probably do the same thing - if they can get a company as widely hated as PETA (at least they're hated by most of the gaming community, if you do your research) to make a parody of their game, and it be shit, then that's fucking great. They didn't pay for it, they did fuck all work, and yet you're all discussing it and bringing attention to a game I didn't even know existed since I'm half way across the world in Fiji where a laptop is worth your life. Kudos to them, man. Thanked by: Rhyme

It was clever, sure
but that doesn't make it less of a total dick move :F

Oh yes, it's certainly clever. In a similar way to the Bob's Game thing.

Dick moves are the only clever thing going around these days... They got this game so much hysteria on the internet because of this dick move - a group of fucking youngens. With no cash input. They made a game from scratch and are no doubt making a shit tonne of cash and fame from it all.
Good show.

It was already pretty well known though...? It made waves on NG and Kong back when it was flashbased and got a ton of exposure on kotaku before it got released on wiiware and steam

And while I was away, I heard nothing of it until this.
So go figure.

Dazz, Meat Boy has been on the net for some time now. You have to be a freaking caveman to not know of this game. It's been hyped as much as there are Starbucks in the world. It's been all over at least Kotaku and Gametrailers and crap. Lots of gaming magazines featured this game, mostly as small mentions in the online content sections, but still.

I didn't know about it until Portalguru started talking about it.
Stop assuming just because you know of something, everybody else will, just like everything else you say.

Seriously, you guys never go to Kotaku, IGN, Gamespot, Gametrailers, 1Up, Destructoid, not to mention it was all over XBox Live Arcade store and Steam.

But that's besides the point-- just because something is "popular" doesn't mean EVERYBODY KNOWS ABOUT IT. Especially when you're Dazz and you work and travel 24/7. |
