Whoa, that's pretty slick.

The biggest problem I'm seeing with it so far is colour temperature, though. In that regard, the main bulk of the boat doesn't need changing- everything's cold-coloured, getting warmer towards the figurehead, which makes it into a nice focal point. +10 points for that!
Buuuuut~
The moon (and it's reflection) are also warm colours, so the eye also gets drawn into those corners, and there's nothing that really leads the eye back into the piece. I'd suggest making it more of a pale greeny colour, similar to the rest of the background.

It might also do to knock back the mountains in the background a bit by shifting them a little more towards your background colour - that's the magic of AERIAL PERSPECTIVE. The further away something is, the lower the contrast is between it and the sky. Check it:

I love the perspective here. First good topic in Sprite Discussion in a while.

Regarding the moon and the surrounding fog stuff, the pixel work there is a bit jaggedy.

it's a good image, it's yet to be a good topic.

i see what you're trying to do with the mast, but atm it looks like there are red icicles on its corners

and i think the perspective on the boat is skewered/twisted a bit, since the front part is showing what looks like the bottom while the back part shows the top.
i could be misreading the middle line, though

good job, i like them greens

Oh, regarding the mast, I just noticed.
What's the sail attached to? :V

The bottom corners (clews, if you want to be really anal) should be tethered onto the boat, otherwise the sail would just be flapping about~

i tried to fix most of the problems you guys mentioned

@rabid- thats just the curve of the boat. i'll admit its a bit exaggerated but isn't that what art is all about~~~~~~~~~*so deep*

The lighter shade on the mountains kinda stands out now, and I'm not sure if boats normally have the sail tied down in two totally different positions on the sides of the boat (as in, one tie in the front and another in the back).

The moon and such is definitely much smoother now, though. I doubt you could make it much more smooth without some AA.

This is beautiful! Reminds me of cures recent pieces. (Pixeljoint's Cure)

Definitely enjoy the colouring. I hope you don't add anymore dithering in it, because I'm scared it could ruin that awesome style you have going so far.

I think you should make the ocean in the background a bit more rapid, since it's far to calm to inflict those splashes upon the ship.

Maybe the ship fell from the skies.
I really like the highlights on the dark side of the ship for some reason. Gives it an oomph.

i wont add more dithering, i just had a few parts where it looked jarring without it. anyway, i might mess with the ocean a bit. its harder to work on it because the sister i am giving it to for christmas just came home.

Haha, yea I can relate. I made my sister a pixel piece last year for Christmas. I got it to be printed on a really high-quality printer at 2x and framed after - could be a good idea if you'd like to wrap something up! Smile
