WHAT IF POKEMEN WERE REAL!!!!!! Grown-up Edition
#31
Well, the thread that is on every single pokemon forum. And it always goes to food....

Outside of the food realm, I really don't think there would be animals, I mean, how could any dog survive if you got friggen bad ass dogs that can burn them up? Natural Selection people. Though I guess that depends on how long pokemon have been around. Well, lets say Arceus just randomly appeared on the earth at 1/1/10, then started spawning pokemon. There would have been only a year and maybe certain species of animals have gone extinct but not all as it hasn't been long enough. Though I could see in about 100, or even 50 years if not less that all of the animals as we currently know it would have went to extinction due to the better pokemon life forms. Though there could be a tiny island off of Costa Rica that holds tons of animal species that has been mainly unexplored. Wink

Imagine how many missing children would go missing because they got carried away by a Drifloon, or went into the woods at night and were licked by a Haunter, or threw a toy out that came to life as a Banette and got revenge.....

allow me to be late and say "holy shit"

the newer ghosts would be even worse than the current slew that we have.

I mean, the chandelier line eats souls, the jellyfish line drags things to the bottom of the ocean and feasts on the life force, Cofagrigus eats people and turns them into mummies, etc.

You also have to consider other factors, it isn't quite so black and white. I mean the way you're saying it, smaller domestic dogs shouldn't even exist in our world since things like bears exist that would be way above them on the food chain. Not to mention in different places you have different species or else in the real world you'd have things like lion and wolf conflicts. Not to mention a lot of real life animals coexist with each other in the same ecosystem even though they perform similar roles. Therefore, it wouldn't be that hard to imagine certain animals still being around although obviously some would end up being inevitably killed off.

As you said before though it would depend somewhat on how long Pokemon have been around. If they weren't around terribly long its also likely that humans might have saved many animal species since we see that a lot today. I mean honestly pandas really shouldn't even be around anymore and its only because of massive conservation efforts that any still exist really. I can't imagine that if given the chance people wouldn't do that for regular animals if Pokemon just showed up one day.

Animals exist in the Pokemon universe, they just appear/are referenced sparingly.

They kind of waned off the animal references. I'd say it was ret-conned.

If I remember correctly, they were still making the occasional reference in the DPP anime. I could easily be wrong though, I haven't looked up this little factoid in a while.

In addition to that, I remember the Cerulean Gym having non-pokemon fish in it's aquarium in the anime.

The anime and the game are seperate. If you wanna get really hardcore about Pokemon lore, the only cannonical things are the games as the anime isn't made by gamefreak

EDIT: i think

You're right about that. The anime has no relation to GameFreak other than attempting to portray their world.

In ancient Egypt annubis would look more like a negro Lucario. Also, led zeppelin would be called 'Steel Drifblim'. Power cuts would never happen, and we would never pay water or energy bills, but costs of gas and taxes would shoot through the roof. Arachnophobics would be screwed if fighting Ariadi (or ariadoses), and airlines and boat companies would go bust. Also, in terms of food, we could always eat eggs

not exactly.. i imagine a cross country flighht would fatigue a pokemon to the point of death, and there would still be frigates and cruise ships around just because you cant haul literal tons of merchandise on a pokemon, or relax and cruise on one

not to mention stormy weather situations, i imagine the business would stay as is, especially for non-trainer locals
