So, now that you're done with that sigh of pain that *someone* is doing a MC KoRL, please halp me with this. I know it CAN be improved, but I don't exactly know how. Yet. And I will add more views soon. The King is 100% custom, with link from Barubary's Link rip. So how is it?
And the palette i'm using is Xiphirx's from ZGFC.

The sail doesn't look shaded enough. I think the back part should have more, darker shading. The mast could also use some shading.
Both the sail and mast look a little pillow shaded because the outline is so light. Link has some black on his outline. Even the outline on his hair is a very dark yellow. Try darkening the outline.

Thanks, I actually don't have any shading at all on the mast. I'll work on the sail and that when I have time. I should get around to making a side or back view later today. And I don't think I'll change link- That's how he was in the game.

He wasn't asking you to change Link. He was asking you to look at how Link is shaded and try and replicate it.

Thank you for all of your criticism, it is greatly appreciated. And now I see what you mean by "link has some black on him" so thank you.
Here is a new version. I might get around to a side view later tonight.
I made the ship more "elliptical"
I changed the colors of the sail, giving it a darker outline and better shading
I did the same to the mast

The sail is looking better. The Red Lion's face will probably need redoing though, he has no outline and his eyes are far too close together.

the main problem i see is you're spriting it for top-down style.
MC isn't really top down, if you pay attention to the sprites and backgrounds. it's a fake perspective thing type.
I suggest do something similar to this view:

Thanks, it was looking a little top-down-ish.
What I did here is I took the original and orbited it to get more of a 3/4 view. I then made this on top of that, and I think it turned out alright. I left the sail the same, though.

Something is horribly wrong with the Red Lion boat.. not only are his whiskers pillow shaded, he looks like a duck.

Yeah, I thought that too. I'll get on to it tomorrow.
EDIT:

Well, I started working on the side view and all I have is just a basic outline. So I was wondering if it was close to the right perspective.
Off to read xkcd!

Head and main boat are in different perspectives. Try it all tilted slightly towards the screen.
