Things games should have, but don't
#16
oh yeah, every fighting game should have the characters' movelists somewhere on the game disc. manuals get lost sometimes.

more action games, i could care less about the plotline as long as it doesnt get in the way of the massively amount of non stop action.

Actually reward players for creatively completing a level, or creatively accomplish something minor like killing enemies.

I don't really see that too often.

I just thought of another thing that no game should ever have. Games should never have cutscenes in which you see your character give up against a few enemies that you KNOW you could handle if the game let you fight them. Admittedly I don't see this too often, but in games that have done it (I'm staring at Kingdom Hearts II right in the face) its always ticked me off. Its impossible not to be bothered when your character proclaim that its hopeless even though his only opposition is a handful of the weakest enemies in the game.

something that needs to disappear forever:

Invisible walls

God damn this is my biggest video game pet peeve ever. If it looks like I can go there, chances are I'm going to try to go there eventually. Invisible walls are not only lazy, but after bumping into one I feel like I'm being punished for trying to explore. Shouldn't players be rewarded for exploring? Put something physical in the way (like, say............................ a visible wall?????) if you really don't want the player to go there

this SO MUCH. especially in rpgs when you know you could easily take out every one of these EXTREMELY BASIC ENEMIES in one move.

For sandbox games I can see why this is necessary at times, but I agree that it would be better if they had a more creative way of doing it.

Lost Odyssey. I realize all Rpg's your characters start off at a low level. But the character is an immortal who has lived for a 1000 years. In every cut scene he's practically a god at fighting. Its kinda've contradictory. You think he would be a lot better than he is in game.
Not that big of a deal, I just can't beat the second boss heheh.

Ever notice there's never female enemies you have to fight unless they are a boss or something. The only game I've played where the regular mooks were female was Shantae: Risky's Revenge.

I thought it was an interesting subversion. Despite that game having tits everywhere anyway...

Double Dragon. Streets of Rage, Maximum Carnage, and Final Fight. but your right. Perhaps there would be more heroines if there were more low class Mugs who were female?

Nintendo still makes games? That's a relief, I could've sworn all I saw at the store in the Wii section recently was shovelware...
