Just beat the 6th gym, currently have a team of:

And everyone's going to be like "BUT DEX WHY DON'T YOU HAVE A TEAM OF SIX" it's because I'm incredibly picky okay :c

Before I got the game I was actually considering nicknaming all of my pokemon the Japanese name, because, things like 'Gigigear' is much better than 'Klinklang', and 'Ononokusu' is better than 'Haxxorus'.

But when I got it I thought about how stubborn I was, and how much time it would take, especially when they evolved

Oh wow, I take one step into Twist Mountain and I find that super rare ice thing. According to Serebii, there is only a 1% chance of finding it so thats cool I guess (no pun intended).

Idk, should I have it on my team? I generally don't use ice types but his stats seem pretty good in general.

this happened to me too, except it was the second pokemon i encountered. :< i accidentally killed it whn trying to catch it and have been unable to find one since and i want it on my team in the first place.

because the only one that wins anything atm is mariguana

No. You know that big city where the 3rd gym is? This one guy there will ask for a password (I don't remember it), and if you tell him it, he will allow you to trade over event based pokemon from the older games.
