Super idiot question: How the smeg-ens do I decompress the files from the decompressed nds file?

If I remember it right:
bin -> Don't think you have to worry about it
an4, an8, anm -> Sprites
lyr -> Never figured that out
scn -> Palettes
sfx -> I think these may be sound effects
ts4, ts8 -> I think these were background tiles but some bosses might use it too

I have to check but I think that was it. Basically you can open up the an4, an8, anm, ts4, and ts8 in Tile Molester/TiledGGD and use the scn for the palettes.

Ok, I checked and the only things to add is that ts4/ts8 is also used for images too.

Yeah I'm making some form of progress now, reading through the Tiled-GGD tutorial (http://code.google.com/p/tiledggd/wiki/Tutorial).

Hopefully after reading that I should be good, if not I'll just nudge Dazz a few hundred times on msn.

I'm currently working on Luminous Arc, then I'm going to rip from Luminous Arc 2. However, I'm being sensible and playing through the game, and getting the names of characters and enemies as I go, since there is not comprehensive list online, and I always prefer to have the proper character names on the sheets.

I know that Barubary helped me make a tool for Annie no Atelier, but I've never played it, so I don't know any character names or anything. Sheets are visible in OoV though, if anyone is interested, I can send you the files.

pm me how you do it and what you're doing with luminous arc, i'll help. i can probably name the sheets you have if you havent already got a name

i could also send you my 100% save if you want

it says that im missing bgd.dll when i try to use it. Can anyone help me?

Try using this Tahaxan. There's pretty much no place on the internet to download the program that has all the files anymore.

I'd recommend checking out Tinke too. I use it for all my non-screenshot sprite ripping from NDS games, and it's pretty good at sounds too. The project's also still active so it's updated fairly regularly, new versions are posted here.

it wont let me use Tinkie, i need to download a certain thing to my computer in order for it to work. Sucks that the computer that i do my work on doesn't have the internet x.x

Is the certain thing a file (like a .dll file) or a runtime environment (like .NET Framework)? If the latter then that makes sense, but I'm pretty sure that all Tinke versions have all needed files so you shouldn't be missing any specific files.

its the runtime enviornment, i try to download it on this computer and then move it to my other computer, but it wont download cause it doesn't have the internet on it....yet. It said i need the .NET in order for it to work.

Ooh yeah that's a bit of a bummer then. But it's good to have either way, there's a large chunk of apps out there that need it so you'd have to download it sooner or later anyway.

i know, i just need to get my other computer connected to my internet so that i can download it and start using Tinke and hopefully get the sprites that i need in the future.

Check this out: .NET 4.0 Runtime Standalone Installer
That one should be able to install it on computers without internet (if you can get the installer (~50MB) on there).
Other installers (Web installer) need to download the actual files on the go.


I'm pretty sure .NET 3.5 stuff should work on 4.0, too. If it doesn't, give a word.
