it wasn't the radically different art style or weird map layout that made it seem so different either,
it was all those uninspired minor characters, like those kids, and shad and the gang, who nobody cared about.
they made the game feel corny and honestly didn't motivate me to save the world they lived in at all; and even worst they tired to steal links spotlight.

also the combat sucked, just like in wind waker

Wind Wakers combat did not suck at all. I've been playing it again, and it flows easily.

Both TP's and WW's combat systems are marked improvements over the one used in OoT, due to the added features beyond simply "shield/slice."

However, I haven't played any other games in similar genres, so I wouldn't be able to say how good the combat is compared to other games.

but by then it would be out and you wouldn't be able to hype it for very long

honestly hype is not a bad thing, it doesn't matter how much you hype a game if it's good it's good and if it's bad it's bad

twilight princess wasn't bad because it was overly hyped, it was just a mediocre game

But the thing is I don't want to hype for a game that could possibly be mediocre.

I'm not saying that Skyward Sword will be a bad game mind you, but my worry is that it will end up like Twilight Princess.

Exactly this, I just started playing it again too and the attack moves are easy to grasp and get used to, not to mention that awesome parry attack when you're striking that last blow to an enemy. Cool

Debatable

Wind Waker's combat wasn't much different from it's 3d predecessors, so in this case your saying that all the 3d zelda games combat sucked balls.

I only think that the combat sucks because it virtually plays its self for you
in the newer zeldas you can basically mash the attack button and win every time because each hit is successive and the enemes never tighten there defense
they just keep letting you hit them
also perry attacks are the worst, just like in kingdom hearts 2, they really are just there to give the player they illusion that they are doing something when in reality they still have no control
it's insulting

I'm not saying that OoT and MM's combat wasn't bare bones, because they were, but at least you had to use more then one button to win
plus they are faster paced and way more satisfying- the way that the enemies use to burn when they died feels so much better then the lame explosion effect from the new games
I also hate how bulky the new enemies are
I'd like to knock an enemy down and not wait for him to get back up before I can kill them
like half of my total gametime in wind waker was probably spent waiting for moblins (who take like 50000 hits to kill) to get back up after I knocked them out

if you're going to fall down then don't get back up, and if you aren't dead don't fall down- every game designer should keep that as a rule of thumb

Just noticed how Link parkours in this game

I don't know why this is causing hype but it does

Seriously? I disagree 100% with everything you said, as its really really wrong.

As for hype... Myamoto did say in an interview that this is the biggest game he has ever made.

However there's also confirmed to be a huge love story in this game between Link and Zelda like never before. So we'll have to see how that works out.

I've been following this game so I do know quite a bit more but those are spoilers for sure.

After one particular spoiler I read I agreed not to read anymore info before this game comes out because that spoiler was... too delicious

Yeah I had my doubts about this game too so I didn't care to spoil myself... until I spoiled myself a bit, now there are no doubts. This is going to be good. Really good.

It's Zelda. With a fanbase as large (and divided) as the one it has, just about every little bit of info can produce hype (and complaints).

I thought the Link x Zelda interaction was at its peak in Spirit Tracks. This should be interesting.

It will probably will end up like every Zelda Fan Fiction ever made.

Itt Link and Zelda shouldn't have that deep of a relationship, but I'll have to wait and see how it turns out.
