I'd like to see the genies as PokeBall Pokemon.

That's another thing. With this next installment, we'll see if they remove any character from Brawl, and with that, we'll see a new smash tradition where character can and WILL get cut unless they're the original 12.

Actually, not even Jigglypuff might be safe. I mean they took out Waluigi from a freaking Mario Kart game.

I think the biggest problem with Pokemon characters is the fact there are SO many, and people's opinions about what should be included becomes incredibly subjective.

Personally, I think Zoroark is a shoo-in. Lucario could end up getting cut and he could just be the one replacing Mewtwo and Lucario. HOWEVER, in a perfect world I'd love to see all three rather than one winning out over another (Unless it was Mewtwo).

Another problem is that a lot of later Gen pokemon aren't as iconic as first Gen. As a result, the playable roster is overloaded with First Gen pokemon.

What would be a cool way to expand the playable Pokemon roster would be having the ability to adjust which three Pokemon are brought with Pokemon Trainer. That way you could make it all sorts of interesting stuff, but in the end you still have the problem of SOOOO many playable Pokemon already. What Pokemon really needs is its own Smash style spinoff fighter.

One problem that I always noticed about Zoroark is that it's ability "Illusion" doesn't really translate well in a Fighting Game. For people unfamiliar, Illusion is an ability that allows Zoroark (and it's prevo Zorua) to take the form of the Pokemon it's adjacent too in the party order. It's a pretty sneaky trick in a turn based environment like the Pokemon Games, how would it work in a fighting game environment? You can't have Zoroark transforming into different fighters during the heat of battle!

Of course, they could ignore "Illusion" all together, but that's kind of a special thing that makes Zoroark unique! Without it, you have this bland dark type monster fox thing. If you can't incorporate Illusion into Zoroark, might as well ditch the idea. Plus, the Monster Fox's time in the sun has passed. It was the star of a movie that's a year old! While Victini just recently had TWO movies that starred it. And don't say you can't make a creative moveset out of Victini's Psychic/Fire abilities!

haha but seriously guys. Smash Bros isn't even announced yet why is this thread even up.

Quote:why is this thread even up.

Because it was announced for Wii U and 3DS, and we even have a logo...

Personally, I don't see what is wrong with having a bunch of first gen pokemon in the smash bros games.

Maybe it's because I've grown used to seeing them so often. However, I must admit that there's probably some other 5th generation pokemon that will sneak into the roster and it might not be zoroack, I mean it could very well be one of the starter evolution pokemon from those games.

Zoroark (ack?), Victini, and Snivy seem like the most likely fifth gen options.

Well what I mean about the 1st gen is that MOST people probably wouldn't like it as much. Personally I'd love more variety too, but when I think about what pokemon I want to see most in a Smash game, my first main choices almost ALWAYS go straight to 1st gen. For example, I really want Meowth even though there's already a lot of 1st gen guys.

because I can clearly remember every pokemon name out there given that there's over 600 of the critters in each game, bad memory you know.

personally, Snivy is likely to be the best candidate for a playable 5th gen pokemon but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Zoroark is another possibility but unless illusion is used as some clever final smash I wouldn't bet my two cents he'd be in.

isnt like shang tsung has been doing it for the last 20 years on mortal kombat, nor mokujin on tekken, or blade master on soul calibur.

Or Charade in Soul Calibur. Or Olcadan in Soul Calibur. Or Inferno in Soul Calibur.

Soul Calibur liked that gimmick a lot.

I...
I wasn't making fun of you. I wasn't sure if I was right or not. The last time I read about his name was well before the US release, so I wasn't sure if maybe something changed in translation. Then you spelled it differently, so I got confused...

While we're on a Namco kick, let's not leave out Tetsujin.

I can't imagine that zoroark will replace lucario, they don't even have the same body postures, and as zoroark walks on 4 and lucario walks on 2, I'd like to see zoroark a little more speed based and agile.

I can imagine that Zoroark's Illusion is an attack that could transform him/her into one of the three Shiny Legendary Beasts, possibly a Final Smash.
I believe that Zoroark is the only new Pokémon to join the roster, as indeed most of them aren't popular enough or are most likely be a Pokéball Pokémon (Snivy could use Grass Mixer and Victini V Generate). That is, like it or not, the most realistic outcome.
