"Dating game" really doesn't do it justice. It's primary focus is on Hisao's coming to terms with his condition. It's about him coming out of his shell and finding new friendships. It's about getting over his initial prejudices and looking beyond physical appearances. "Romance novel" would be a much better word to describe it than "dating game", and even then, the quality of the writing in Katawa Shoujo is much better than most of the romance novels I've read.

Of course, I'm just gushing right now since I absolutely loved the game, but I'd recommend you at least give it a try before you knock it.

Hm well I'm fine about games where you bang fanservice character because you're not meant to feel for them. Their just a bunch of bouncing boobs so who cares, right?

In this game these girls are characters you learn to care for and respect like real people. So I wouldn't feel right about it.

Great visual novel. It provides a very in-depth story and a great experience. Be aware, this is a visual novel, if you've never played one before, it's basically a book with pictures that go along with what you're reading. So don't play this if you're expecting tons of excitement and action, it's basically a book. You sit down and quietly read it and look at the nice pictures like you would with your average book. You don't know how many times I've seen people start this up and be surprised that it's something you actually have to READ.

By the end of the first 2 chapters, you will probably feel genuinely attached to the character whom you are pursuing. To put it blunt, Vipershark will have a new waifu.

So I finished my first playthrough, that was a really nice ending and it made me feel quite happy and accomplished.
EDIT: Hanako's story scared me near the end, I thought things were going to end on a sad and depressed note, but that ending brought a huge smile to my face
EDIT2: Eh fuck it, if Algony or whoever that other guy is want to laugh at me, I'm used to them doing that, yeah so after playing the game it kind of shoved thoughts that have been lingering in the back of my head and it's really struck me how depressed I am. Once again though, glad Guru showed me this, it was a nice read and well written.

Be aware that I've seen countless people get upset and literally depressed over this VN, because it sorta points out a few problems about their own life that they were ignoring before.
