Regardless of words and things, welcome to the forum! I hope you enjoy your stay, I like to think we're a pretty neat bunch once you get to know us.

OHHHH!!! I feel rather silly now! My goodness... xD I'll be sure to incorporate it to my own vocab! Sounds so rad~!

Thanks for the welcome so very much. ^^ You've all been so warm to me. I'm regretfully a bit bad at making friends over forums or the internet... It's kind of funny, but it is actually easier for me to talk to people I don't know face to face.

By the way, I also make GIFs, although they're from sprites sheets, not custom.

She is from Peru, and her first language is Spanish. She is new to pixel work, but has been drawing for quite some time, and from what I've seen on her deviantart, she does have talent. I just hope that it can be transferred to pixel work easily.

It's one thing to go from pixel work to drawing, but the other way around... Athena is definitely a unique case. :p

Sad I do not think it should be you sharing my information with the rest of the board. What we discuss in PMs, I believe, is something "private"... Sad Give me the responsibility to show who I am to the rest of the members. And if you don't like being "that guy", you can... not be him. It is not that hard. Once you know what you don't want to be, that is.

Also, I am not from Perú. I would not like to disclose the particular country, for security reasons. And yes, my native language is Spanish, do not live in the States.

Thank you a lot for nice words on my art. It is proving a bit difficult to draw as well in Pixel form, but I'm trying to get used. I'm rather slow, so it'll take some time. Thanks again for commending on my uniqueness. ^^

This 100%. Your English honestly is some of the best I've seen from any new foreign member! Very glad to have you around, and like he said, we tend to joke around and make up words like that, so not to worry, we're only saying positive things anyway! Wink

Thanks a lot!! ^^ I feel quite loved alreadyy, although I know I'm not.. "exactly" loved.

Oh, Eri (my alien OC) would be happy to accept them. Cute Don't worry, I think she can handle them. ;D

AGAIN, Thanks everyone for such awesome welcome to the forums! I really hope I can stay for a long while, and learn a whole bunch from you all. I am shy especially through the internet, but if anyone has tips, I'd be more than honoured to read through. Smile

Have a wonderful day. ^^

I hate to de-rail the topic, but I would appreciate it if people wouldn't assume things of me, thanks.

Welcome to the forum! I hope you have a great time and learn a lot from our members!

I've taken a look at your Deviant Art, and I must say that I really look forward to seeing you progress in pixelart - you definitely have a lot of potential!

Also, on the subject of home country, I'd like to chime in and say that I'm proud to be British.

yup

I for one wouldn't be ashamed for being Brazilian, but I believe you have a good reason for that. Anyway this is over; let's focus on the important part, which is getting along and maybe, improving your art c:

Well if you haven't already, I'd recommend reading a tutorial on how to organise your sprite sheets. Before I started settling here I found one on another spriting site, although I'm unsure if I'm allowed to link that. In any case it helped me get a general overview on how I should put my sprites on that magenta/blue/green/<unused colour> background, and got me off on a good start.
Also, when making sheets, I always like to keep a layered version of it. For example, with GIMP I keep it as an .xcf file, in addition to the final PNG, with each sprite on its own layer. That way, if I like I can move the sprites around later. The Photoshop equivalent of this would be keeping a .psd file.
Other than that I'd just say try to find out as much as you can about ripping from whatever console you're working with. You might find better emulators, methods, or just random tips.

And most of all, have fun! Ripping sprites just because you feel like you need to can stress you out, and that just sucks. Even if you're doing it as a request, people should understand that you're human.

Hope that rambling is useful! Smile

I'm proud to be Kiwi. Probably because New Zealand is awesome.

Cool

That it is! Had so much fun travelling NZ. We went all over - got our own car when we reaches Queenstown so that we could reach Glenorchy and Paradise.
Where are you from? We might have passed close by or even visited - we went around both islands, and left a couple days before the massive earthquake from Christchurch.

That's always a tricky question. Originally I'm from Waihi, up in the North Island near Paeroa (loved that massive bottle), but for the last 6-7 years we've been travelling, flitting from place to place due to certain circumstances. Our current residence is in a tiny town in Otago, round about Balclutha, although at the present moment I'm not even in NZ Tongue Probably be back before 2013, though.

While you were travelling we were in our campervan, before finding our current home. I'd prefer not to go into details as to why (this is the internet, after all), but we weren't homeless* or anything Wink When the earthquake happened we got quite the shock, as we were in Canterbury at the time. Our friends' house in Christchurch was badly damaged, and when the second quake came it got worse. Hospitable, but unfixable.

Anyway, I don't want to derail the thread. PMs are welcome for further conversation, if you prefer.

Oh, now I feel like L&P.

Carry on.

*Technically we were, but you get the point.

It's not like I'm not proud to be where I'm from... But I've had my personal security in hazard before.. I.. don't want that again. If possible. I am a proud latina! All the way! Proud of my tanned skin and of speaking Spanish.

Does that make sense? I will not lie about where I'm from, I will not tell you I'm from Perú, because I'm not. I simply don't want to say it. Not that I want to pretend I'm not from somewhere.

Thanks Pugg for the recommendations... I'm trying to make a little Eri walk, but it's hard... Haha, I feel so dummy! But I want to learn so bad!

I know what you mean, personal security hazard and all. And no problem, if you try I'm sure you'll make some sweet sprites Wink
