You are right.

You usually need a sort of criticism here to get customs submitted into submissions.

Why is it that no matter what angle sonic's head is turned, his spines always face the same way, thus giving him a huge bald spot?

due the way those features were designed, most people can't really translate them into a 3D object. or couldn't

ergo, sonic was originally designed as a "sideview" character in sonic 1. wich leads to believe he basically has a single row of spikes on the back of his head, or at least the people behind sonic satam did.

fortunately, that was quite easily fixed in later desings.
