For the past year I've been working on several Minecraft mods. They're not really all that special, I mean, I've made Turbo Model Thingy, but that thing's just horribly coded (which is why I'm making Nitro Model Thingy).
So one of the things I always try to achieve is to make things I usually don't make, or experiment. It's one of the reasons I made Turbo Model Thingy (the other being because I needed trapezoids to make skirts). In fact, I was one of the few people who enabled bigger textures before Notch implemented it in Minecraft. I implemented it back in March 2011. I also came with skeletal animations.
Anyway, back in March 2011 I thought of an April Fools joke I could pull. Unfortunately it failed a bit because Notch just had to update on that very same day. Basically I wanted to pull an April Fools joke by making a fake mod for Minecraft, which added Duke Nukem in his Duke Nukem 3D appearance into Minecraft, in all his 2D glory. Except it wasn't fake, I actually did add the link. I even added a trailer for it, which was supposed to be "fake".
Duke Nukem 4 Minecraft
I originally intended to update it regularly, but it appeared that nobody actually liked Duke Nukem. That was, until Minecraft 1.0 arrived. It was around the time I took a long break from modding Minecraft, but something just resparked my modding fury. I think it was the idea that Turbo Model Thingy just wasn't good enough. So I began working on Nitro Model Thingy.
At the same time, I wanted to revive Duke Nukem, but I also wanted to implement another idea. Instead of just limiting myself to Duke Nukem, why not extend it to other characters? I mean, originally I wanted to just do Duke Nukem related mobs, but some modders said to me, how about Doom?
So, right now, I'm working on a mod which brings back old characters, from various games. If it had a 3D environment and it was made out of sprites, I would implement it. It unfortunately means Wolfenstein 3D and other games based on that engine won't be added (they lack too many animations), but hey, maybe if I feel like it I might just add those sprites myself one day.
Now I'm not going to work on it continuously, I have other things I need to do, but I will occasionally go back to it. I have, specially for you, a preview build of the mod. So far there are no bugs found, but there aren't many features in anyway.
I'll also add the source, although you should be able to decompile it yourself using the Minecraft Coders Pack (MCP), if you want to play with it.
Anyway, I'm open for suggestions, but also, I'm willing to answer some questions if you might have them.
Finally, here are some media you can view. First a few videos, the first made by me, the others made by, well others, and finally some images.

In order to run it, you'll need ModLoader and AudioMod. To install, just put everything in the minecraft.jar, located in %appdata%/.minecraft/bin/ (or any equivalent on your OS). The resources go where the resources are, meaning, you can just drag the content of the resources archive into %appdata%/.minecraft/.
You can also use Single Player Commands to spawn the mobs, seeing as they're very rare. Just use "spawn DukeNukem" or "spawn Doomguy" to spawn the characters.
I hope you guys enjoy this mod, so yeah, leave a comment, suggestion, criticism, anything. As long as the suggestions aren't too outrageous I'll consider them (so no, I will not add Pucca or any other lame-ass character, especially not without sprites).
Cheers.
