and now, for something completely different

Hmmm, maybe do something a little less lazy for the final hit
Currently he's pretty much just doing "right hand palm, left hand palm, both"

Have him do something nice for the combo finisher

Not that I'm being lazy, it's just really what I had in mind before even animating it. What do you have in mind for something more interesting as a combo finisher? Smile

I'm not sure, but something not too complicated that would add importance to the final blow

You don't even have to change the attack itself, maybe just change/add something that would make it actually feel powerful

Finished all the animations of the character and the first enemy while also starting on the 2nd enemy. I will be adding more tiles to the first environment and some backgrounds to that Smile I will also need to do some explosion effects soon

The shooting enemy.. is he air-humping, or is it just me? His whole body animation seems to just be jerking up and down, and the back of his
shoulder plate seems to grow and retract as he fires? Maybe I'm just reading it wrong, but it just seems strange to me.

As for everything else, I quite like it. I thought the Adventure Time sprites were quite cute, and fit the style of the show rather nicely.

He looks like he's just fidgeting about rather absorbing the recoil.
You should have the elbows bend in and downways and have the rest of the body jerk backways, instead of up and down.

Did you not notice that the robot does not have elbows? Also, I was trying to do that recoil absorbtion thing but it was hard to convey because he doesn't shoot both guns at the same time. I mean, he doesn't have to recoil so much if he's shooting small guns with small bullets, right?

Try and make the sprite more readable. I didn't realize there were two symetrical arms until now. I don't think the head nor the legs would move that much from small shots, most of the energy will be going as far as the shoulders maximum.

Will get to that sprite in a bit, I worked on that part when you told me to make the rocks sharper. Smile
(will increase the variety of tiles soon and the background will come really soon, just wanted to show my progress)

Didn't do much spriting these past 3 days because I was doing this. (Don't worry, the background will be improved more Smile )

the background is about right

though i'd be a bit worried about characters blending with it due low contrast.

It's supposed to be played on a 2x scale (also adjusted the color of the bg) and in motion it looks readable as the animations make the characters come alive

EDIT: just noticed I left the mouse over the shot by mistake lol

RE EDIT: fuck imageshack it resizes the image

it's like you don't believe i made it lol i made it with stencyl which makes it pretty easy. i just want an engine to work on before i figure out the rest of how to program the game with stencyl. it's actually still just running and jumping and getting help from others if you don't believe it here's what it looks like

is there a free video capturing program out there btw? i only know the priced ones and fraps for games that aren't flash (fraps can't record flash right?)

It's not that Meta would doubt that you made the game engine etc. You said the characters would not blend with the background when they move, but that's something we cannot judge from a still image ;-)
Since, you know, your main character blends into the background quite a lot in your screenshot, especially the far arm and leg. So it is hard to believe they don't blent in motion, so he asked for a video to be able to judge.

tl;dr: Dark blue character on dark blue background tends to blend. Suggestion would be to change either the character's color scheme or the scenery's.
