because thats what gillian would do, of course. she's the evil misstress of ignoring other's points, not you.
indeed dazz, you won. here's your throphy.
I am dropping in here just to say that all this passive-agressiveness is dumb.
Metaru, I like you and all but that was uncalled for. I am not even playing sides and I don't have enough arguments to make an opinion here but you and everyone around here must respect the site's damn rules.
Also i agree with Lexou too in that if you have discussion about sexism, you should do it in another place OTHER than Gaming Lounge. Notice that I am not asking everyone to stop entirely; I just want to make this thread tidy, that's all.

I would suggest that you make a Minority Issues in Gaming thread, but I don't think tsr is ready for that.
In the meantime

I would be happy to explain in some detail why male characters don't have the same kind of rigid and negative standards female characters do, Because I have nothing better to do than effortpost (and I could probably condense this information into an article sometime later).

When you say anything... what about the 'characters dying' part? (If this is one of the titles were your characters die and cannot be resurrected; I'm not familiar with the series)
I don't like it when that happens.
Also, you should probably showcase your stuff at Gamedev sometime (I think hacks are allowed there; if not, we'll make it happen ;-)
I'm busy with projects so I'm not going to get into rom hacking myself, but I find it quite interesting. Especially creating the tools and therefore have to analyze the roms for data, offsets, codes, formats and whatnot amazes me, more than the actual changing of content.

i'm pretty sure hacks should be a-ok to be displayed in that section.
Yeah, it makes more sense there than anywhere else really.
Only thing is that you don't post the rom itself, for obvious reasons. Most of these hacking tools have patch stuff, right?

Yes, for these obvious reasons, they use patch systems everywhere in hacking. Most use the standard IPS (international patching system), no matter what console of file at all.

Yeah, it's a game where each character is a unique person with a backstory, a personality, etc (which is great, cause you get really attached to the characters). You recruit them at special occasions and events , and it does have a system where the ones that die are dead forever. I think it's nice, cause you really have to adapt your strategy so that no one dies.

Well I have something in the works, but I need to do a bunch of stuff before I can release a demo.

Yeah the patch files are .IPS or .UPS files, that one can easily patch onto the ROM with the right software.
BTW, would anyone be interested in a tSR FE hack ? If users are willing to make their own sprites, and if we can find someone willing to write the script/scenario/plot, I'd be glad to make this hack
(let's hope it won't die like many community projects)

I'd be up for making a plot if only I'd played a FE game, which I haven't. I probably wouldn't have time anyway. In any case I think it'd be cool.

I'd so love to see this, but I've never played an FE game in my life. Guess I should consider trying one sometime. ^^;

You should start with Fire Emblem 7 if you've never played any of the other games. There's a tutorial, and personally, I found it easier than the other games.
