Better, size-wise? I would've hated working with something as big as the other one, anyway.
I'm not sure the highlight was a huge improvement, but there's only a couple colors to work with in that regard. I think this is a slight improvement in readability as well.

I'm not sure the highlight was a huge improvement, but there's only a couple colors to work with in that regard. I think this is a slight improvement in readability as well. It's better, but the lack of some form of outlining on the inside ruins the depth of the sprite. Outlines aren't recommended, but you can add some with a simpler character like yours. Since you won't really have detail-readability issues (?), you can still do some more. Right now, I'm mainly talking about the shell bottom and the back foot. Is the pink part supposed to be the back of the shell, or the character's body? I'm having trouble understanding what the actual character's form is. You also have too many colors for certain colors; I can barely see the pink in the yellow. ATM, it's unnecessary.
EDIT: I tried editing your character, but I haven't had much luck. Right now, the only thing is that the pink blends in too much with the yellow, not to mention I'm not exactly sure what the pink is supposed to represent.
I might have made it worse, but I think I helped with the shell.

I suppose I should've mentioned before that I was basing this mostly off of this ref (ignoring the obviously horrible anatomy of the right foot). The pink was the closest thing I could get to the underside of the shell that was both in the limited palette and didn't clash too much with the skin tone. I think the darker left foot, and having the extra outlining on the shell and foot definitely looks better, though; I'll see if I can't edit the first sprite using yours as a base later.

@Jdaster: oh, well that is tough. Is the head supposed to be flat in the ref?

Rex, simplify!
I edited the head, because you had too many colors that were too close to each other.
Then I got an idea for the body...
Rough sketch, of course.
Maybe a drill on his back that can double as a jetpack for jumping?

it's somewhat better, but still not quite. I'll make an edit soon to exemplify. Your sprite's face is kind of messy, and some life could be added with some tweaks.
Eu vou dar uma editada no seu sprite quando tiver tempo, o movimento dele parece meio robótico.

This an improvement? (bottom-right)

that would seem like a rather oversized character, for what it is suposed to be.
have you considered doing instead an humanoid version out of it?

It's been a while since I've posted any sprite updates for my char.
I still need to update my sheet with the sprites I've been working on in Gale.

I think the Triceratops attack could use a little more range. For that combo to work, he'd need to magically get closer to the opponent because the other two attacks would send them backwards a bit(?)

have you considered doing instead an humanoid version out of it? It's only 36x32, and probably wouldn't exceed 36x36 with spikes; I'd like to see how an idle/walk animation would work before I consider any major changes.

I got my Midnight Moe done. Something's bothering me about her left claw, though...
EDIT:
Fixed it?? Also I got rid of the shading on her claws in an attempt to make it more readable. Y/N?
EDIT2:
Added another shade of purple (should I just get rid of it since it's barely noticable?) and added a little animation.
