I feel like the legs should be moving as the character flies

The new version is clearly darker, unless you mean the underfur, in which case, yeah, looks radioactive. I don't think they're that different in brightness. And I don't really get why the palette would be a problem, anyway. EDIT: Also, new palette is 2% brighter, if I read correctly.

Look, there are a variety of ways to very clearly and creatively use a limited palette to your advantage--think of it as a challenge. No negativity and backhanded sarcasm will accomplish anything, so if the set palette doesn't accommodate your character, this might not be the right project for you. On a lighter note, I really love the character menu Chris! Does that mean you pick the stage first and it's the background for the character select screen? I was looking for a background for the select screen, so I took one of Nick's and recoloured it so that it wouldn't be too flashy. We could make one for the select screen or go with a gradient or a solid colour (too boring ha). Choosing the stage first seems counter-intuitive, but why not!

If this is gonna be happening again, I guess I'll rework my assist character. Left is old; right is new. The pants shading bugs me right now; I'll have to look into that. iIdle WIP. Gotta fix that stupid left leg. I think I made it too bouncy overall.

You shouldn't get all in a tizzy just because your character will end up being portrayed a little "incorrectly." I'm sure yours isn't the only one that isn't reflective of an ideal color choice. Plus, the sprites are going to be a lot smaller than your avatar, so this demonstration shouldn't be taken as a totally accurate representation. They'll also have less shading, which means that the darker shade will presumably have less of an impact, making your sprite appear brighter than the demonstration. In any case, it should probably look better to you. Basically, you shouldn't let little things like that bother you so much. Your character isn't dependent on little color changes. edit: 1000th! Would it be too much to just have the logo or something in the back? I'm with you on solid color being boring, but gradient seems reminiscent of amateur flash-game graphics IMO. Actually, does TFR have an official title screen logo yet?

Updated his stance, with less abstract leg shading and more definite leg shaping (plus more relaxed), and since I couldn't help it, some alt colors. I probably made too many (hell, do assists even get any alts?), but again it was mostly for funsies. If anybody wants, I'd be willing to try whipping up an alt or two for them. Here's a rough concept I came up with, based on the VG Resource logo: the arrow's replaced with a Kamehameha sort of beam; the "VG" is replaced with "Fighters" in the Street Fighter font; and the Dualshock, GBA, and N64 controller are replaced with a fist, foot, and sword, respectively (couldn't think of a better third "thing" to represent a fighting game).
