I had to change the shaping of his sweatshirt after redoing his legs, and one area that got awkward was that upper-right torso, which makes his right shoulder iffy. Still trying to see what I can do about that.
EDIT: also, thanks. Glad you like the stance.
Offending people is a necessary and healthy act... Every time you say something that's offensive to another person, you just caused a discussion. You just forced them to have to think. - Louis C.K.
His right shoulder is probably too low.
But it is an interesting pose.
If anything, this project is currently a little lacking in posture variety; most of the characters have pretty much the same forward-facing battle-ready stance, so getting in some characters with different stances would probably be good.

So if I add a couple colors, would this still qualify or no?

Your character reminds me a bit too much of Issac from Golden Sun.
Well the colors are nice, though I have to say that the pose is a bit weird, you have to keep in mind that if this character will have a full sheet, you need to think ahead for the idle animation, and with this pose, it's hard to imagine him bending his knees (as it's customary in fighting games)

I'm also pretty sure you have to get permission from Gors to add colors to the palette, and right now, the palette already has the colors you should need.

the palette exists for a reason; it helps make the sprites look uniform beyond the stylistic choices of the outline and shading. the colors you added make up the majority of the colors you used, so you're not really using the game's palette. colors should only be added when there is absolutely no substitute. at this point, the palette has at least two shades for almost every notable hue in the spectrum, so i'm pretty confident it doesn't need any more changes.
also, please use the most up-to-date palette from my recent post.

i wouldn't say that.
though most of the fighters' poses so far have involved leg movement, nothing's requiring you to have an active idle animation. vipershark's leg movement is pretty minimal, and sol's quite clearly rocking the jotaro stoicism. variety is nice! but also think about how your character would move in this scenario. are they confident? joyous? meek? angry? do what makes sense for your character.

I actually think it looks better with the new colors!
That said, I do concur that the pose looks a little too passive, and his arms looks a little short. Also, his hands look pretty tiny.
@BullockDS: Looks pretty rad, but maybe the shading's a tad excessive? It's hard to say anymore. Also, the hair bugs me, I think the bangs look a little funny? Do you have any reference for that hairstyle?

The colors don't seem to reach far from the original concept, which is great. Also, I have to ask, what kind of sword is he wielding?
Edit
Might make a full sheet for this quill guy

I think I'm gonna ask Gors, and finish the Color table for those shades, just so if people want to use them.
I mean, I like the palette, but the choices for skin tones/cherry pink skin tones don't really fit well for male characters. IMO
It looks great for female characters tho. =)
Edit: I'm gonna take off* the new blue shade, and just condense it down to just 3 new colors.
The skin tone, and the darker brown.

I tried working around that, yeah my character's skin does look a bit pink, but well nothing too far from the original concept. I actually enjoy it a lot.

That skin tone works great, but if you study it, the brightest shade works well as a base skin tone for a pale type of base.
I was trying to find something in between, and couldn't find it on the palette, so I tried a new color to test it out.
Permission Granted.

So you mean finish off the rest of the shades to make it into 3 shaded tone? \
Like this?
Lovely,thats it!

Right so I have two proposals concerning the palette
Figure A points out the three nearly identical browns in the palette, and suggests replacing two of them with more useful colors, i.e. a bolder, brighter yellow that I selfishly want for my lightbulb, but which can also be handy in other instances, and a darker tone that can be used for sand and stuff, or as an alternate darkest shade for skin. The two bars of brown in the middle are, from top to bottom, the three browns side by side, and mixed in with each other.
-
Figure B shows that the new brown ramp is unnecessary as the old one does its job just as well, and unifies it with all of the other existing characters
and in my opinion looks brighter and is more pleasing to the eye.
Ran you definitely have every right to use your own browns, but please considering using the originals instead, it just makes things easier.
What do you guys think?

I have noticed those two colors being similar, though I never gave it a lot attention. But you do make a strong case here.

The palette is in my post above
it's the one in the B section
also you don't need to use my yellow in your sprite, that's just an addition to the palette replacing one of the redundant browns
the only part concerning you specifically is part B.
