Doesn't Anorith fit that bill?

I thought most fossil Pokemon have been pretty varied, actually. We've got an ammonite, a trilobite/horseshoe crab, a pterodactyl, a sea lily, whatever Anorith is (Bulbapedia says Anomalocaris), a pachycephalosaur, a ceratops, a turtle and an archeopteryx. I don't know where else you go with prehistoric animals...

Don't forget the coelicanth.

Relocanth isn't a fossil pokemon it's just a pokemon that chills in the deep blue.

Anorith does look like one but I dislike how the actual animal looks more interesting than the stylized pokémon design. Five eyes and a claw in the tip of the trunk? Would look great, but that's my opinion. The fact is that some pokemon aren't made with only one animal in mind. They mix two related animals (such as in this case, anomalocaris and opabinia) to create one character. So, this means there are few remaining 'pure' animals to base pokemon on.

While typing that, I wondered if stromatolite pokemon can be considered as 'animals'. Either way, a walking rock wth wind-based attacks would be somewhat cool if done right, i think.

Yeah but Tellis was naming off fossil creatures and a coelicanth is a fossil fish. Relicanth is mostly or at least partially based on the coelicanth (it even looks like one) so whether it's an actual fossil or not it's still based a little on the coelicanth hence its name. Besides if it isn't a fossil or at least a very old Pokémon, why would it have "relic" in its name?

Relicanth seems like it would follow the footsteps of its real world counterpart and be considered a "living fossil" of the Pokemon realm.

On the topic of fossil pokemon that haven't been done yet: basically any of the predominant mammals of the ice age. Sabretoothed Tiger, Wooly Mammoth, Wooly Rhino, etc.

Wooly-toothed Tiger here we come!

Actually I'm like 99% sure Scolipede is a centipede

The main tip-off is the "tails"

Centipedes have a forked "tail" (their back pair of legs, which sometimes work as a sensing organ) which is absent in millipedes:

[Image: gardncnt.jpg][Image: millipede_redleg_1.jpg]

Also worth noting is Scolipede's dex entries:

Black: "With quick movements, it chases down its foes, attacking relentlessly with its horns until it prevails."

Scolipede has a 112 base stat in speed. I don't know if you've ever seen a house centipede run, but those bitches be FAST. As for millipedes... there's a reason they can curl up into a ball.

White: "Highly aggressive, it uses the claws near its neck to dig into its opponents and poison them."

Millipedes can't bite. They don't have poisonous claws. Their main defense is their ability to secrete poison (which, in some millipedes, is actually a type of cyanide) from their bodies.

Centipedes, however, have modified front legs called "forcipules", used to inject venom into prey.

Finally, the "Scoli" in "Scolipede" most likely comes from the genus of centipedes "Scolopendra", which contains most of the giant tropical species. Scolipede's Japanese name, Pendra, also follows this convention.

Kyogre and Groudon are meant to be considered Pokemon's Leviathan and Behemoth equivalents. There was also a third one Ziz, an air related one whereas the Behemoth was earth and the Leviathan was sea. However, Ziz is more of a gryphon thing.

To be honest, Rayquaza does kind of fit the bill of a World Serpent-like legendary, though.
Then lets go with a massive soul devouring dragon.
