Does anyone know how to extract .cdi files to raw files?
I want to rip the Jet set radio Characters from the original (Dream cast) game so I can open them in Metaseq and then put them into MMD but so far I'm having issues.
Apparently you can extract CDIs with IZArc. I bet 7-zip would work too, it's worked for me with other CD image formats like ISO.
Once you've extracted you should have the "raw" files, but using them is a whole other matter entirely.

I tried downloading Izarc but.. it was virus infected so I was not able to get it :'D
The other program does not extract .cdi when I try to
That's weird, I haven't actually tried it with CDIs but I don't know why it wouldn't work. Are you sure it isn't corrupt or anything? What does 7-zip say when you try and open this.

I'm not sure it it's corrupted since I downloaded it here
And 7-zip just crashes when I try to open the file..
You're not allowed to post links to ISO or ROM sites here, so you should probably edit it out (or a mod will do it).
Anyway I'm not sure what to do then. Try using a virtual CD drive program like Daemon Tools or Virtual CloneDrive (which I personally use). Then you should be able to open the "disc" and see what's inside.
If that doesn't work then I'm afraid I can't help you.

Don't post any porn or illegal material. You are allowed to link to rom sites, but we are in no way related to these websites nor do we condone the use of them.

You most likely wont be able to get much from the game except for the music and possibly textures but not the models unless somebody wrote a script for it.

Sorry Mighty, I've seen so many places that don't allow linking to ROM sites that I must have gotten a bit mixed up.

It's kinda silly telling all the new members to read the rules when you haven't even read them very well yourself.
I rarely do that y'know, it's mostly Previous. I only said it once (that I can remember), to Lunais.
I will double-check the rules whenever I point stuff like this out though. I have read them but I just didn't remember this specific one correctly.

Yeah it's okay, I was just teasing.
And you have been saying "read the rules" and something similar in intro threads lately. Prob. not as much as Previous but I have seen it. :B

I know I'm bumping this somewhat, but since the subject has been touched on I figured I'd clear a few things up from a general perspective rather than based on site specific rules.
When it comes to linking to places from a forum or website there's a specific way to handle it, if you want to post a link to torrents, roms or other questionable material you should only ever link to the page where the file can be downloaded.
This is actually really important, legally speaking if you link directly to a file, which also includes hotlinking images or embedding flash files or ever iframes, you are then legally responsible for providing that content even if it isn't hosted by you at all, this also goes for hotlinking images or embedding videos or flash files.
The distinction is that if you link to the page hosting the file, anyone clicking your link doesn't necessarily have to download it and it's clear to anyone clicking the link that they are now on a different website, but if you link directly to it then the only possible reason to click that link is to access the file(s) (note: this doesn't apply to file sharing sites, because the only reason to go there is to download the file through their system), it's a little convoluted but that's the legal position, all community sites have their own specific rules of course but it obviously goes without saying that the law overrides all of them.
Oh, and naturally if you upload or download clearly copyrighted work yourself that's just straight up copyright infringement, the fun fact of it is that in reality the only reason most rom sites don't get shut down is because the copyright holders don't know about them, don't care enough to send a cease and desist, or if it's not clear who the copyright holder is anymore. (for example if a company went into liquidation and the copyright stayed with the now defunct company)
tl;dr: if you link to a website where people can optionally choose to download things you're probably not breaking the law, everything else is pretty much illegal to some degree. These days I'm probably even breaking the law by saying that.
