Shiny Pokemon Encounters

I'm considering staring a hunt soon for a shiny Sentret, since Furret is a close friend's favorite Pokemon.

I've been playing Pokemon consistently for over a decade now, and have logged between 2500 and 3000 hours of play. Never have I once encountered a shiny in any of my games (aside from my friends' in link battles and the Red Gyarados at the Lake of Rage).

I haven't played the Gen 6 games, though.

Legendary Pokemon are the problem. Bank is out now, though, at least for Europe, so did a couple of trades and now my National Dex is "complete".
Interesting thing to note: So-called special Pokemon can't be traded via GTS. This is why I can't find Arceus, Deoxys, etc. I tried trading Mew and Manaphy for a Shiny Landorus, but the game wouldn't let me. So why is it possible to ask for them? It just fills the GTS with bullshit impossible trades. Literally impossible.

Now that I have my charm, my quest for Fabio continues. Once I have that, I'm out to hunt Candy, the shiny future Jumpluff.
Yeah, I name my Pokemon before I even have them.

I dusted off the old Pokemon Stadium 2 cartridge, turns out I have a shiny Elekid saved from my childhood. Whatever happened to my Lickitung or Hitmontop, I guess I'll never know

So I picked up X again, testing my luck again for Shiny Mareep...

I caught a Shiny Wingull. She's called Leviathan and is now a Pelipper.

4 years ago, I encountered a shiny zigzagoon in pkmn emerald, I caught it and the day after my game pak was stolen when I was at school.

Never encountered any shiny pokemon after that and I still play pokemon games.

I found a Shiny Seel in the original Silver and a Shiny Raticate in Soul Silver. I don't go on shiny hunts because it's become one of those things where basically everyone does it these days to a point where you're more likely to see shiny Pokémon when battling people than you are to see the normal colored ones.

Honestly, I just think they should do the color variation thing that they did in the N64 Pokémon Stadium games.. and maybe alternate idle animations based off of the personality types they've been giving Pokémon since Gen 3.
