However, the fact remains that the new Dante isn't the right Dante. I am not going to argue which one any of you like better, but I'd like to make clear, as amazing as the gameplay etc. may be, the new Dante is not, and shall never be, the real Dante. It's like saying the movie-version of the Mario Bros. are the Mario Bros. and that Shadow is Sonic, they're not. You can like the one more than the other, but facts remain facts.
It's just that I heavily disagree with the redesign, because one cannot simply reinvent something that already exists and is heavily developed.

Just coming in to say that I don't care for the new Super Monkey Ball character designs but I'm not wishing death upon the designers just because they made a change that I wasn't fond of because that would be outright taking it way too seriously and make me look like a typical angry fanbase.

When it's a reboot, I don't see why you can't. Couldn't it be it will explain how his hair goes permanently white?

I'm sorry I'm a little harsh with words like that. It's just to express my discontent with their decision to redesign Dante like that.
About reboots, majority I dislike pure for trying to reinvent an already succesful formula, creating it from the ground up basically, yet take advantage of the name that had been set.

As for the hair, it should have been white from birth. It's a trait he and Virgil inherited from their father as a human. The new Dante is set in an alternate universe, thus is not related to the original quadrology. Dante is originally part human, not angel.

But don't think it's just about the hair. It's the whole aura of the character. I like Dante, not him. It feels like he wants to be Dante instead of actually being Dante. He just doesn't seem right.

He was talking about the characters unprompted, actually; not in response to anything you might have said. You're also not actually giving any reasons, whereas my friend did. He backed up his statements, he has talked to me about the game before while playing it, shown me videos and I've seen it in other circumstances, as well; everything he has said has been backed up and I've seen nothing to contradict it.

Basically - I'm just asking for some more substance and reasoning.

I'd hate to be in a pub with you and say "I liked Avengers" - the bar would be shut before you accepted my annotated documentation of why I thought such a thing. Seriously, just like watch a cut-scene or something, it'll give you a good idea of facial expressions and emotion. Sure it won't give you sense of a developing character within the game but well, I can't be arsed to write a whole wall of text with video links and the like.



As a reboot I think this is getting far too much negativity thrown at it. If it was DMC 5 and Dante was redesigned for some reason then yeah, let the shit fly, but this a reboot, big changes like this are generally allowed. And the hair colour change (though let's be honest, you raging internet people you, even if he did have white hair you'd still hate it for some other small reason) isn't even that big a deal compared to the rest of the redesign.

Dante isn't big enough basically. He's not Mario, he's not the TMNT, he's Dante. DMC 4 wasn't amazing, it's DMC WAS awesome, not IS awesome now. He needed a reboot, he got one. It could have died. Hell if Capcom can kill MegaMan why not DMC? They gave Bionic Commando to a company who had never made a 3D game before. At least DMC gets someone decent.

Complaining about Dante's new look is like complaining about the new Lara Croft's non giant breasts. That's not what's important. It's the game that's important. People have every right to be worried about who's at the helm but as for what Dante looks like, if the game is awesome - who gives a smeg?
