I can see Roku's point, in that it sort of diminishes seeing something like that on a boss character of sorts, like a Gym Leader, to let you know business is going down. Maybe they'll make those types of battle intros more dramatic.
I'm hoping this means they'll make some Trainer Classes unique. Like we'll see a dark skinned lass with longer hair or something.
Also, checking various discussion boards, I have to chuckle at how people are really afraid of the existence of the Fairy type. They're just really misunderstanding what "fairy" means to a Japanese viewpoint.

Helioptile's battle animation...
He's hands-down my favorite gen 6 we've seen so far. Here's hoping he gets a good evolution or it otherwise useable.
EDIT:

I was a little mad that Conkeldurr/Meinshao outclassed Machamp. (machamp has such a better design imo)
To be fair, I feel Machamp fills a different niche than Mienshao and Conkeldurr. Conkeldurr usually runs bulkier sets and Mienshao is often a hit and run attacker or mixed. Machamp usually functions best under a substitute or as a lead, and he has access to Dynamicpunch and an accurate Stone Edge because of No Guard.
Not sure if anybody post this but here are the official box-arts for NA
i am so getting Y version
What Rips am i doing next not sure?

The only worry I have with that is that it probably means that trainer animations are out, meaning we have the silly looking "Pokeballs from nowhere" seen in the Pokemon Stadium games, instead of the trainer throwing their Pokemon out (which um, is kind of one of my favorite animations in the sprite games, honestly).
And this seems pretty likely because there's been absolutely no sign of trainers in any videos or screenshots of battle we've seen. Which is super dumb because even Colosseum, XD and Battle Revolution had the trainers standing on the battlefield. I mean, I can see the reason being that the overworld and battles aren't on the same scale (the Pokemon models have much more detail than the overworld trainer models, and Gogoat's overworld model is visibly different than its in battle model), and to make two models for every trainer is a bit of a hassle but I can't help being a bit disappointed.

Well, there is an animation of your trainer throwing a pokeball, at least when you're going to catch one.
But yeah, as much as I love the idea of bigger portraits, I'm also kinda worried it'll look a tad lazy...but oh well

You know, taking a look at this again, I just realized something...HeartGold (and SoulSilver) , Gen I and Gen II were the only games to get tallgrass to look like TALL GRASS, instead of a bunch of shrubs hugging each other. What the professors should tell newb trainers in these other games should be "Wild Pokemon will jump out at you if you move around in shrubbery!"
