Yeah but I feel as if it adds nothing meaningful to the game other than "oooo look at this new thingy you can do"

Then same goes for riding Pokemon. That would be incredibly cool if you could ride any Pokemon (big enough) of your own choice anywhere. But from what I heard it's only specific Pokemon given to you for specific areas. Reminds me of Amity Square in Diamond and Pearl where they were like "Hey your Pokemon can follow you around now! ... but only in this small area and only 11 specific Pokemon."

Luckily they fixed that in Heart Gold and Soul Silver by having any Pokemon follow you anywhere. Perhaps in the new Ruby and Sapphire remake they'll allow you to ride all kinds of Pokemon.

-Other new pokemon is called Dedenne (electric / fairy)









-New form of evolution called "mega evolution," with confirmed "mega" forms being megablaziken, megaabsol, megamawile, megamewtwo, megaampharos, and megalucario
-For megablaziken, items called "blaziken knight" and "mega stone" are needed.


-New gym leader named Koruni, mega evolution gym leader

The names of stuff aren't 100% confirmed.

Honestly, I'm pretty disappointed with the new evolution type so far, reminds me too much of Digimon... I'll wait until we get more information on it, but for now it's a big negative on the game in my opinion (namely how they revealed that Blaziken gets a "mega evolution," giving it yet another leg up on the other starter pokemon).

EDIT: I'm not as disappointed as I read more opinions about it, doesn't seem too bad.

I like some of the designs, the concept of an evolution that's not REALLY evolving seems kind of pointless in the game that made the concept of transforming monsters into new monsters super popular. Redundant.

I have mixed feelings about this. It could go either way.
This is not the first time a new form of evolution was introduced. Gen 2 introduced breeding and baby Pokémon. I think Mega Pokémon can set X & Y apart from the other main titles. Aside from trading methods and visuals, there wasn't much since Gen 2 that was outstanding. Love it or hate it, Mega Evolution has the potential to really add.
That said, like I said, mixed feelings. I am excited for the potential, but it feels a bit fan-made. I do like MegaMawile, because Mawile deserves to be more useful that it is. Surprised by its Fairy-typing though, yet makes sense, I guess.

I can understand Mewtwo, but if they're going to add other "Mega" evolutions they might as well fucking make then into normal evolutions.

Those evolutions for Mawlie and Lucario make sense, Blaziken and Amphoros I'm learning towards the eh side more because honestly, if they did blaziken then they should have at least did Septile and Swarmpet as well. They probably did, but they didn't say anything about it yet so I'm honestly questioning if they will confirm that.

(Personally, A megaevolution for Charizard would have been badass, same with Venusaur and Blastoise too because at least Venusaur won't be able to suck as much in terms of design.)

I like the designs however. (Except Newtwo.)

I wish they had chosen nicer colors for the rabbit and the neopikachu, those browns and greys are icky, otherwise I like them just fine, especially the rabbit.
Megaevolutions are a dumb idea, and pretty much every one of those designs looks dumb, they basically just made hyperbuff versions of them all, which is the sort of idea a five year old would come up with, and really makes no sense, I am hoping that this is some sort of side deal like the movies in BW2, and those megaevos dont actually get used competetively, especially because all of them save ampharos, mewthrii, and mawile are super cluttered.
