POKEMON GEN 6 ANNOUNCED
|
I'm not sure how I feel about that ultimate Gengar and Gengar is my favorite
EDIT: I'M COOL WITH IT. HE'S BASICALLY A SHEIKAH STONE EDIT 2: you know on second thought after looking at it again. I just am kinda still uneasy about it an now I'm leaning towards not liking it. Megas just seem unnecessary to me to begin with.

The only way I'm cool with Mega Evolutions is if EVERY Pokemon (final form Pokemon) gets one. It could potentially allow for things like a Mega Butterfree to be just as strong as any other strong Pokemon.

It'd be a lateral move at that point. But then again, some that were have already received one, so let the games begin!

I would hope Mega Evolutions would balance things out then. If I was in charge I'd make it so already powerful Pokemon recieve a small boost from a Mega Evolution, while weaker Pokemon recieve a tremendous boost!
IGN Review: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/10/04/p...d-y-review
No surprise with regards to the formula from that review. Almost everything I read in there, I expected, save for some of the aesthetic upgrades. Looks like it's time for the Same Old Same Old!...as soon as I get my hands on a 2DS/3DS...

"Game Freak has really outdone itself this time, and Pokemon X and Y will be remembered as great transition point for the series’ transformation into an even more social, beautiful, and strategic game. Building on five generations of games, a digital menagerie of captivating creatures, and a wide range of diverse regions to explore, Pokemon X and Y proves this formulaic portable role-playing series can still deliver an innovative experience."
I'd like to know how they said it was more of the same. Reading the review, it's obvious GameFreak have streamlined combat, making it more strategic, and among all the other changes, really evolved with this release. Obviously I'll have to see myself, but the review showed to me at least that Game Freak updated and improved, not more of the same old same old. Thanked by: Garamonde
Quote:It needed to do something to make it feel different, because Pokemon X and Y’s story follows a predictable arc that’s very similar to previous games, albeit with a charming cast of four NPC friends this time. Sadly, the one-note design of these characters is still pretty disappointing for a predominantly single-player RPG. I know that it’s aimed at kids, but as a Pokemon fan for the past 15 years, I couldn’t help but wish for a story that appeals to fans of all ages.

Story Arc. Did you expect a story mainly designed for kids to suddenly get more complicated and therefore too hard for kids to follow?

Who concluded the story has to be complicated? It can easily be something different without being complicated. Game Freak is just too paranoid to step out of their comfort zone, which is understandable to some degree since money, but still, it won't kill them to freshen things up after so damn long.

Too paranoid to step out of their comfort zone? This entire game is stepping out of their comfort zone.
Even if the story feels familiar, they've always made it a fun or interesting story for me, so even if the formula storywise is still "Bad Guys want to do something bad, stop them periodically until a final showdown" they've still always managed to make each experience feel completely unique, with their own rollercoaster of emotions and events. Hardly playing it safe. Thanked by: Garamonde
I wholeheartedly disagree; I was bored through my run of Black because it was all still the same thing, just with a sprite change and level design change. It didn't feel new at all, but "Been there, done that." There was more story, yes, but it was the same old thing it always is. Nothing's changed, except the games getting extremely linear lately.

Wow really? The whole N being a puppet of Plasma who are using his well intentions to put a sheet over their very sinister intentions and the climactic showdowns in the castle with the legendaries, along with the overall messages that the game has is the same old same old to you? Not to mention the incredibly well designed Gyms.
Yikes. |
