A Koopa's Tail: Under the Weather

Thanks for posting about your coding progress, Phaze. Now we can say we're getting somewhere towards an actual game!
Sprites sure are pretty though...

Speaking of, I know you guys have probably been wondering if this project is still a thing. Thanks for holding out after nothing but an initial post and not much to say for updates.
Lots of progress has been made on sprites... I'd say about twice as much is done as is in the first post. Sean and I are currently deciding how to best release sprites and animations, though, so we should have something nice to show soon.

In the meantime, here's the new game logo. It's been done for a few weeks but I forgot to post about it. (Note: the grey silhouettes will be changed to black on the game's title screen, and depending on what it's in front of, so don't mind that too much.)

We've had a few smaller updates here and there, but this one... Well, the entire first post has been overhauled. Go check it out for yourself!
I'll try to summarize all the major changes below, though.

We've updated our Signature icon!

Major changes to Gameplay
- Same six characters, but you can play as any two at a time.
- Party leveling system so no character ends up under-leveled due to favoritism.
- Special Points for more advanced attacks and Team Moves.
- Badges return in a new Team-based system as a combination between BIS and TTYD.

Story has been refined
Most significantly, this game is now chronologically set between Bowser's Inside Story and Dream Team.
That aside, not much has changed in terms of this topic, but if you're interested the opening plot is in the first post.
Star and I are nearly finished piecing everything together in this respect, so we should be able to start work on level design and backgrounds soon.

Sprites
We've decided to remove some things from the first post in this section to rework/finish them, but to make up for it here's a boatload of new stuff!
Last but not least... Have a teaser of other sprites and characters coming soon!

Cthulhu Saves the World does this and it's fantastic, personally I think every RPG should have it (unless it would ruin the game of course, e.g. it wouldn't work with Pokemon). So yeah, glad to hear this will have it!

Anyway yeah I'm as excited as ever for this, progress looks awesome!

Wow, these are fantastic. Great job on the Sphinx from Mario Land. some of those silhouettes look suspiciously like other bosses from that game. Wink

Well, after deliberation between this project's 'team', we've decided... A Koopa's Tail is going on hiatus until further notice, for several reasons.

I don't like making these kinds of posts, and I apologize in advance to those looking forward to AKT, but it's just how things are going for us right now. We don't know if we'll be bringing this project back, but alternatively, we don't know if we won't either. Thanks for all the support you guys have given us throughout, and we hope that you might check out other projects our team members are affiliated with to make up for AKT.

Requesting a lock maybe?

Aw, that's a shame. I understand though, such an endeavour can be pretty hefty, and if you can't continue then you just can't. I hope that it's able to pick up again eventually, if not then I still think you guys did a great job with how far you got!

Of course I'm kind of bummed about the decision but I totally get it. Some things are just too much to handle for a small group of people when other things are considered. Hopefully things can work out to where you guys can start this again, but otherwise, great job anyway! Smile
