I'm considering doing the impossible... spriting Diablo 2. What do you think?

I say impossible because the sheet above is only the dual-wielding-fist-weapon animations, and only one of the four possible weapons in each hand.
All these animations also different versions for:
One-handed-swinging weapons (with 15 different weapons and 7 different shields)
One-handed-thrusting weapons (with 9 different weapons and 7 different shields)
Two-handed-swinging weapons (with 2 different weapons)
Two-handed-thrusting weapons (with 4 different weapons)
Bow (with 4 different types)
Cross bow (with 4 different types)
Staff weapons (with 11 different types)
Hand to hand (with 7 different shields)
One-handed-fist weapons (with 4 different weapons and 7 different shields)
Two-handed-fist weapons (with 4 different weapons for each hand)
Multiply all these by
9 different helmets
3 different torsos
3 different legs
3 different right arms
3 different left arms
4 different right shoulder pads
and 4 different left shoulder pads
And this is just for the Assassin! There are 6 other player classes.
So I always wondered why there weren't any Diablo 2 sprite sheets in the world, and I guess this is why.
I ask what do you guys think because, maybe I could reduce it to layers (which may be confusing, and will need information for which layer goes on top of which for each frame of animation), or maybe just the important ones (for instance, for the assassin above, I only did two-handed-fist animations because that's typical, and special for the assassin, the other classes can't do that).
Anyway, I'm glad I got all that in writing instead of sitting in my head. Suggestions? Opinions?
