[Unity] Touhou Kart - Early Alpha

Well, this game is a lot like Crash Team Racing, and unfortunately there won't be any bullet hell segments. It's perhaps something to consider in the future, though.

Oh yes this is something I'm very interested in. A friend and I put together a ton of ideas and started working on making a Touhou Kart about a year ago but it fell apart due to a heavy college load. I'm glad to see that somebody else is making it so that way we don't have to.

I'm sure you already have a ton of your own ideas already but maybe seeing ours will spark something. We tried to use stuff from all of the games rather than just the super popular ones.

Was there any particular map of gensokyo you used for that?

It looks pretty good though, aside from some obvious texture tiling.

No. I've been using artwork from various different Touhou games as reference, but not once consistent map. I'm not intending this game to be 100% accurate (I mean, it's not like there's canonically a racetrack around Hakurei Shrine, either), just to capture the spirit of each area.

The texture tiling is far less obvious ingame, though I may well retouch some of the textures.

Thanks! I'm afraid I can't do much work on it at the moment, as I'm currently back at university, and have to focus on that. I will, however, be back to work come the Christmas holidays.

Just wondering (and not sure if you mentioned anything about it already or not), but what alternative modes (if any) are you planning to include?
I recently discovered that I don't enjoy SonicAllStarsRacingTransformed as much I'd like simply due to the lack of an empty free-run mode (where there aren't any ghosts, opponents, or items; just me and the race course), as well as the inability to turn items off in normal races.

The plan is to have various modes, including a Time Trial mode, which will just be an empty course that you have to get through as fast as possible. It will be possible to play this against ghosts, but not compulsory.

I plan for Aya to be a boss race, and an unlockable character. So... yes.

are you pulling assets from somewhere or making them by hand? the massive disparity in detail between objects is very noticeable. there's also a lot of objects that don't cast shadows right next to objects that do, and some of those textures have tons of detail and bump/normal/height mapping while others' do not.

in terms of the screenshots themselves, it looks like the sun is casting a harsh orange light onto the sky and clouds(the clouds might be overly-bright) yet the environment is receiving a white-blue light. paired with the heavily-saturated green color and blue fog, the colors are very confusing.
