of all the characters im mostly interested in the animal crossing villager especially if the "Any projectiles you pocket on the 3ds version gives you the item when you load your New Leaf save" thing is true

and totally counts seeing as hes actually in a lot of important games

Mr Game and Watch was not even a character until he was brought into Melee, the Game and Watch games just used generic people-shapes and Nintendo brought one particular shape over to make a character.

He's visually indistinguishable from the characters in old G&W games, just because he never got a name doesn't mean anything

He's quite stylized if you ask me and is a great representative of Nintendo's early years

[Quote: AkumaTh: Quick question: What was Samus's character before that? I'm looking at the Wiki and they said the only glimpses of it were in three games: Metroid Fusion, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and Metroid: Other M. In Metroid Fusion (the last in the Timeline), there were a lot of reflection on moments in Other M.]

Admittedly Samus' character wasn't given much attention in the games themselves before Other M, with the exception of Fusion (I'll get to that in a moment), but Samus' own actions and the gameplay itself portrayed her not as a heartless killing machine (See Metroid II, Samus cannot bring herself to kill an infant metroid) but as a courageous and very noble warrior (Metroid Prime 2, wherein Samus risked her own life and transcended dimensions to save an alien race from genocide). Fusion's Samus displayed more actual personality and, I thought, felt rather real despite not talking or monologuing all that much, at least nowhere near Other M levels. Regarding Fusion's connection to Other M, remember that Fusion was created 8 years prior and as such it's not likely that Other M's awful plot even existed in any form at that point. Other M just lifted vague details from Fusion and went crazy with them.

Ultimately, the story existed as an excuse for the games, which is part of the reason Other M isn't something that should even have been attempted... Since it's not even primarily a game.

Anyway, I'm done bitching about Other M. I've already thought about that game too much for one lifetime. Back to the topic at hand.

Goddamn, Goku would be perfect for SSB.

Also, is there anyone else who feels the same way I do about the wii fit lady? Surely I'm not the only one creeped out by her.

Kinda off-topic (?) but, say, what do you guys think of the name "Super Smash Bros Showdown"?

I doubt it will anyway. (It's for video game characters)

It's a waste of Nintendo's, Bandai's, and Hasbro's time and money if they add a pony character to SSB. I do respect ponies, but it makes no sense and would make them lose fans if they try to cater to other ones.

I pretty much joked about that since that would be the only reason. Though I am serious with everything else. I would love to see Nintendo pick up a character Sony should of to rub it in their face.

So I'm the only one who wants to see Mike from Startropics in SSB?

What about any of the Dragon Quest heroes? We haven't seen a single Dragon Quest character, and Dragon Quest totally defined the RPG library on the NES, as it was the first one.

It is a Square Enix game. So if they get to use a character, expect it to be from the Final Fantasy set.

I want him so bad I made a moveset for him before.

Anyway, random thoughts from the peanut gallery:

I've been thinking about the whole Zelda/Sheik debacle about how Zelda herself has changed drastically and Sheik has not been entirely relevant as part of her character. Three solutions I see to that: One is to split Sheik off as a totally different character character from Zelda (While still referencing the fact she indeed IS Zelda), introducing Toon Zelda/Tetra to continue that transforming mechanic on a different, smaller character, or just redesigning or trashing Sheik all together.

Pokemon I think will probably try to cater to Gen 5 with Zoroark and Gen 6 with that Mewtwo form. Its hard to say with a franchise that is basically teeming with monsters who fight, I almost just want a Smash style game with as many Pokemon as possible.

For those who are not Fire Emblem savvy, Awakening introduced two related Lords characters who are essentially similar in fighting style, and have loose ties to Marth. Their style is different enough from Marth to make the possibility of one of them playable, most likely Chrom, and if Ike returns what you essentially have is a trio of blue-haired swordsmen crowding the roster. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I like all three of them and they can be adapted to be different enough from each other. The disappointing thing is the fact that, like Pokemon, Fire Emblem is very character heavy, and while having a little of everything is very much impossible, I'd like to at least see ONE character who isn't a sword-wielding lord. There's an axe-wielding villain late in Awakening that I think could be a cool addition, though I have no idea how popular he is.

What is an even more interesting Fire Emblem prospect though is the Tactician. You have a character that you name in the beginning of Awakening that you customize, who can basically be any class in the game, his or her starting class having both swords and magic. The ability to be almost any class (I believe there are gender restrictions for some?) makes a vast array of abilities available to the character. If the Villager and Pokemon Trainer shows us anything its that even a customizable, nameable character can be made into a Smash character, so this could be an opportunity for Fire Emblem to have a non-Lord style moveset for once. Also this Tactician has big storyline significance in Awakening later that could give rise to a good final smash.

As for the series most likely to be included for the sake of gaining interest in a long-forgotten series (In the way Melee introduced Fire Emblem to the west and how Pit got renewed interest in Brawl), I feel like the two most widely agreed upon candidates are Takamaru and Sukapon. Takamaru had a game in Nintendo Land, proving they haven't forgotten about it, but Sukapon would probably be more out of left field.

Lastly, am I the only one who wants a Golden Sun character playable? I'd settle for even just one.

Goddamn, Goku would be perfect for SSB.

I only would see Goku getting in if he was represented as a child instead of an adult.

I know a lot of people recognize Goku when he's an adult but if anime characters were ever at all considered for Super Smash Bros at all and if goku ever got in, I'd much rather see him as a kid for two reasons: The first reason being that it'd make more sense for him to be a kid in smash because he'd if he was an adult he'd be nerfed down to a fraction of his power. The other is that it would better represent the entire Dragonball series as a whole, Not just DBZ.

I know it's not going to happen but if we're at least going to joke about it I might as well just get this off my chest.

Well if Pikachu's Final Smash is still Volt Tackle (or Voltekker if you'd prefer), you can get kind of close, heheh.

I'd eat that up, but Pulseman is hardly relevant.

Looks like someone needs a reboot, because I can't get a pulse.

@ TomGuycott Are you kidding me? Ice Climbers had only one game and they appeared in smash and tons of fans love them as well as Mr. Game and Watch.
