Quite a bunch of items in Smash Bros. are OP, like the Hammer and Golden Hammer.
I'm hoping the Red Shell returns. I don't get why it was cut from Brawl.

I would cut the Golden Hammer. Its pretty silly to have an even MORE powerful version of an already powerful item. It doesn't even do anything that different. I'd also cut the Super Spicey Curry and Dragoon. I think there are too many Mario and Kirby items, and a lot of them are no fun.

It was cut because the Fireball thing is pretty much the same idea. I'm all for the Red shell returning though.

Hot Head was slightly similar, but not the same. Hot Head is predictable while the Red Shell is chaotic. Hot Head is also safe for friendly players while the Red Shell brings pain to the whole party.
I prefer the Red Shell, but I can't see why those two need to be seperate.
@Koopaul: I won't miss the Spicy Curry and Dragoon. The Curry is just an OP version of the Fire Flower in a sense that it essentially the same, but allows you attack as well (but you can't throw it, talk about a trade off!!!). The idea of the Dragoon is fun, but executed it's obsolete due to the Smash Ball, which takes the spotlight as the "item to fight for".
One little bit of wishful thinking: I hope the laser gun will finally be replaced by the NES Zapper.

I don't know, I loved the Dragoon, my friends and I would beat the shit out of each other just for the chance to pull it off.

Dragoon is an awesome item simply because it inspires more competition. While the Smash Ball does the same thing, Dragoon comes in pieces and puts one's skills to the test as to whether or not they're strong enough to hold onto each piece and complete it. Admittedly some cheap shit can happen and some guy who has no idea what he's doing may accidently get it.

I guess its because its in three parts while the Smash Ball is just one thing. Something about juggling those three parts and knock them out and around is not such a good switch in the gameplay.
My other problem is that its the most powerful item next to the Smash Ball... but its not a series neutral item. Its a Kirby item. Meaning the Kirby series has some sort of special status over the other series.

I really liked the Dragoon too. Same simple concept as the item in Kirby's Air Ride and it works. Super Spicy Curry I don't really care though. Neither Red Shell because I just realized now that it was even cut out from Brawl, lol. It was a really shitty and unfair item.

There aren't even that many Kirby items. The Super Star is also there and it grants total immunity, so I don't get your point at all. It took Sakurai a really long time just to represent -his own series- in the game more than just Kirby and some handful of items

Ummmmm... No. There a lot of Kirby items. Let's count, shall we? Maxim Tomato, Star Rod, Warp Star, Parasol, Superspicy Curry and Dragoon. That's six. Let's compare that amount to the amount of items from the Zelda series. Y'know, one of Nintendo's most popular and best selling IPs. There's the Heart Container, Bunny Hood and Deku Nut. Three. That's half the amount of Kirby's items.
Anyway, I have an interesting topic. Now that Mega Evolutions have been announced for Pokemon, Mewtwo and Lucario both have a great chance of making a return to the next Smash Bros. But since a lot of other Pokemon have been given Mega Evolutions, they all have a great chance of becoming playable too. Namely, Blaziken. And discuss.

I honestly believe Mewtwo is replacing Lucario because he's been given such the spotlight recently (Actually I thought that ever since we were only teased with the new 'form').
Either his MegaEvolution only or a switch off either like Zelda/Sheik or Samus and her zero suit form.
As for other megas, I HIGHLY doubt it.

Now far as the red shell being a crappy item I disagree. With how chaotic it was brought in a whole new level of game play where you had to rely on impulse before it disappeared. The only useless item was the invisibility cloak because you could still see your guy if you pay attention to where your guy is, And if other people saw you your screwed.
Dragoon is fun for the same reason smash ball is, it's an item to fight for and unlike final smashes, you are garrunteed to ko your openent unlike most final smashes if you aim right.

Except Zelda had like 4 characters in Melee and Kirby had...you know, 1.
It's still Sakurai's game, maybe the items were to compensate the lack of his own characters (I honestly forgot the Parasol and Warp Star).

Y'know what bothers me? The Smash Ball. That thing is one big flaw.
I mean, I'm not saying the concept of Final Smashes as a whole is flawed, it's just the way you obtain the ability to perform them. Unlike other games, where you basically earn your "ultimate attack" by performing multiple combos or something, here you basically wait for the Smash Ball to randomly appear and chase it down before someone else does, which interrupts the flow of the battle. And unlike other items, such as the hammer or the Dragoon pieces, which stay in place, the Smash Ball wonders around aimlessly, turning the fight into a chasing game.
And when you get it, it feels more like if you just picked up an overpowered item rather than earning the ability to perform your character's "ultimate attack"... as in, the Final Smash themselves act more as an item than they do as a true attack. As such, whenever I use a Final Smash, it feels like I got lucky enough to get the item first, and don't really feel any true satisfaction in doing so; quite the contrary, it feels like I'm cheating to get a free KO. During 1P mode, the only reason I ever pick up the Smash Ball is because I want to prevent the CPU from using it.
On top of that, because the Smash Ball is an item, most Final Smashes can be dodged easily and/or may or may not KO the opponent, which limits the potential of the "ultimate attack" of each character.
You know what would have been great? A power gauge. Y'know, like in almost every single fighting game ever? By performing comb streaks and or gathering points for doing certain things or something, you fill up the gauge until it, well, becomes full. Upon there, you'll be allowed to perform your Final Smash. That way, it really feels like you earned your Final Smash. I think that's the way they should have picked, honestly.
...Sorry for the wall of text, I just had to vent sooner or later.

This applies to the Smash Ball for me as well.

I love the Smash Ball and fighting for it, but I hate the Dragoon and fighting for it. The Dragoon just feels cheaper to me, it's the only item I turn off.
