That's probably for meta game reasons. You have to see these characters from all levels of play. See if you really want to know if a character is overpowered have a bunch of amateurs play the game. If a bunch of noobs are mostly winning with Ike, then you know he's overpowered.

if you're watching low level games anything could be overpowered

if he's completely trashing high tier games where everybody knows exactly what they're doing, that's when Ike would be considered a problem. low level games getting stomped is absolutely the worst way to judge whether or not a character is broken because anyone with a slight mechanical edge will stomp anyone anyway

So, with Ike looking like he's retaining the buff and slow archetype, what are you guys hoping for in terms of a Fire Emblem character?

I'm still leaning towards Chrom myself. He just looks so cool when he is fully lorded up and has the Fire Emblem as a shield. Plus I love the design of his Falchion, especially when Exalted. If it was him, as I said before no doubt I would love it if he was somewhere between Marth and Ike, with Marth being really fast, Ike being really slow and strong, and Chrom somewhere balanced between.

I like the characters from PoR best, so anything from that game would do.
From Awakening, probably Chrom, MU, Gaius or any villain.

All in all, Black Knight all the way.

I'd looove Gaius, but I insist he use weaponry with a candy motif.

Also I'd love just about any Mage character. Magic users in Fire Emblem have such cool abilities, especially their villains, who often are magic oriented.

I like Nergal's design from Fire Emblem on Gba, but I doubt he's popular enough for playability if Lyn isn't. I just like his turban over one eye look.

Robin would be a better option for a FE:A rep than Chrom, imo. Just more visual and moveset variety.

I would love to see Roy back, though. I want them to make him a double edged character: deals heavy damage but hurts himself in the process from some attacks, like Pichu.

In general, I want the three "wannabe" type clones from Melee (Ganondorf, Falco and Roy) to emphatize their playstyle around what makes them different from their bases, while deviating from them.

If this roster shows how big the final roster will be, at least, 51 characters in the game. Merely 12 more than the total amount of characters in Brawl...

Either there's been a lot of cuts or the roster we're seeing does not show how big the final roster actually is.
