Which Retro Games Need Remakes?
I'd love to see an Ocarina of Time remake on an actual home console. It was mind-blowing on the 3DS, but it would be a wet dream to play it on a TV with a Gamecube controller.

Also, I would drool at the thought of an HD remake of the first Shantae game, and additional side quests/dungeons with an actual sense of challenge to them would only make it better.

Please tell me that's still in the works! Cry It's been years since I've heard anything about it, honestly. The engine in the demo was pretty impressive for something done in Game Maker, I'd love to see an actually playable remake of Metroid II finished. I'm surprised Nintendo didn't capitolize on that themselves after Zero Mission, honestly.

-Very good Zelda-like Adventure/RPG on the NES. Its graphics were way ahead of its time, and the gameplay was really fun. Had a lot of "Where the hell do I go!?" points in the game, but despite that, it's very enjoyable, and I would have loved to see an enhanced SNES remake for it or something.

This was actually remade for the Gameboy Color back in the day, and it was pretty cool, IMO. They updated the HUD and made the game much more controllable. I loved all the quests and bosses, but the dungeons just left me wanted a heck of a lot more, so I stick mostly to the Oracle of Seasons/Ages for that stuff.

The Crystalis release on game boy wasn't THAT much of a remake. The graphics weren't really updated, and the story was changed into something more generic. I'm not 100% sure, but I think in that version Draygon created the tower as a weapon and was going to use it to destroy the world, and was made the last boss instead. I find the nes version's story more interesting, but then again I don't know which version is the real Japanese version's story.

The game definitely deserves a modern remake though.

Yeah, Crystalis wasn't updated by much visually on the GBC. ^^' I preferred the music in it a lot more than the NES version though; that much I felt was a lot better. Either way, it would be interesting to see it remade, or a modern 2D sequel packed with an unlockable port of the original game. In both cases I'd say "shut up and take my money!". =P

Mario RPG on the SNES is due for a remake. That game was amazing.

Twisted Metal 1 and 2 in the Twisted Metal 7 engine.

Edit: Waitshit, the one on the PS3 was #8.

It's not really an outdated game (It has held up incredibly well) but I'd like to see Super Castlevania 4 remade. A new game in the same style as SCV4, if done correctly would be great, too.

I also find it rather strange that so few of SCV4's tracks have been remixed for later games... I know I'd rather hear those again than vampire killer/bloody tears/beginning remixes for the 483rd time.

Oh wait.
Luigi's Ma-
Oh wait.

Well, I got nothin'.

Pikmin and Luigi's Mansion are:

A: Not outdated

and B: Getting sequels, not remakes.

I wouldn't mind seeing the original Super Smash Bros. refitted for online play, however. Actually, that goes for pretty much all multiplayer games which were released prior to regular netplay.

We should retitle the topic to "Games that deserve Remakes, Reboots, or Sequels"

While I'm here, I'd like a playable remake of Super Mario Bros. Special using the original SMB graphics and engine.

Question
Through the use of download services and fully redone retail remakes of the classics, you can't deny that there have been some positives and negatives. Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Earthworm Jim got HD remakes, and Sonic CD has been updated with both regional soundtracks and Tails as a playable character.

There's still a lot of potential for great remakes though. Here's one of my ideas:

Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World - HD Edition:
Sure, we recently got a port of this for the Wii, but there was nothing new on the game itself, and it was limited edition. What a great way to celebrate the 25th birthday of arguably the most famous series in gaming.

In addition to being an HD remake for either retail or Wii U's eShop, there are other new features that other remakes failed to include. For example, no version of Super Mario Bros. 3 so far has allowed the player to replay levels once they have been completed. This can be a pain, primarily due to the need of an item in order to get past a certain obstacle in levels. Stage Select menus could also be added to Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros. 2, and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels.

Not to mention with such beautiful colors that we saw on the Super NES, I'd love to see what that digital rainbow on my TV screen could look like in HD. Leaderboards for high scores would also be a good idea to include. I think Nintendo could try this for Mario's 30th birthday, aside from a Mario take on Sonic Generations. A history book and music CD could also be included if it ends up being a retail release.

So what would you guys like to see redone on modern consoles, and what changes to the original game or additions would you like to see?
I can't decide if I'm better off doing barrel rolls or getting arrows to the knee.

I feel since the first Luigi's Mansion has already been redone for the 3DS in 3D. It may as well be put on there for everyone to have. Not just for Nintendo to have.

I don't understand your post. As far as I know The 3ds got a sequel to the original Luigi's Mansion, and not a port of the original. Second Luigi is part of the Mario franchise....which is the face of Nintendo. Why would they ever give that to other consoles? That makes literally no sense.
