I would not worry about it looking Christmas-y
I think the red feet give it more character and make it seem more vibrant and lifelike.
Everything that's green and red isn't necessarily Christmas themed heh, and it's not a very controversial misinterpretation anyhow.
If it was something like Registeel's Heil then I would agree, but I dont see any harm in people possibly associating it with a religious holiday, and heck, Im not even Christian heh.

I didn't think it was controversial, I just wanted the Kiwi to feel more tropical and have more tropical colors.

Maybe if it was a different hue of red?

Speaking of the kiwi, we could use something like the Turaco for basis on his later forms. Its colored via pigment like plants as opposed to how most birds are not.

Here is my idea of the basic designs for the evolution of the Kiwi:



I know the artwork isn't finished, especially around the Cassowary's feet, (I added more "bark" to the legs to make it look like a tree trunks, also added toe nails to it and I didn't finish the distinguishing toes) but this is just to get the idea out.

I could get behind the first two forms, but that last one... well, I'm seeing two issues. First being that, idk, something seems to be missing, it just doesn't have that starter final form feel. Idk, it looks like a pokemon, and it looks like it could be the final form of a pokemon, but I just can't explain it, but it feels like it's missing something to make it still feel like a starter, idk, maybe it's just me.

Oh, the other issue is that having two berries(apples?) dangling from his chin would be the source of endless jokes.

(For the appleon neck) i know, but of course cassowarys have the red gobble things, (i dont know what they are called).

I do somewhat agree, it may be the face that it losses its grassy down on the head and neck? I wanted it to be blueish color due ti cassowarys having blue heads.

Also, i chose apples in the artwork, but we could make ot different fruit depending on region (like the new butterfly pokemon from Gen 6, forgot its name right now).

If you are considering a different fruit, maybe a cassowary plum?

As for the neck thing.., hmmm... what if you used some grey milkwood (the flower that turns into a cassowary plum) and give him a regal beard or something with them? Idk, just a thought, either way, having 2 orb like objects dangling from his chin makes him somewhat hard to take seriously.

EDIT- Also, maybe he could have a slightly longer neck? I know their necks aren't super long, but they seem a bit longer than in the design.

I feel as if you're making it look too much like the actual animal. Like you could go more cartoony or monster-like in it's other forms.

My problem with it is that it was conjoined in the second form but the bush looks separate from the actual bird on its last form.
