A note about gamemaker: it doesn't require programming (per se)
there are drag n drop commands that are really useful for starting out with, while still teaching concepts useful should you ever decide to start using code instead (which, admittedly, is more powerful)

If I were you I'd wait until after the promotion is over (as in, after March 2nd.)
They're likely still being completely hammered by people getting free licenses left and right, so give it some time to die down and see what happens from there.

Hmm, so I could port my D7 game to studio now, interesting. I think I will take up this offer since studio protects source code better.

Was able to get and register this early this morning, so neat.
Hopefully, I can start actually doing things in GM... but I'll need to learn how first.

If for some reason you can't download it (this goes for everyone), I've rehosted it here.

Never tried Game Maker for anything- I've tried to figure out Stencyl before, and kept hitting brick walls (every tutorial is for a different version, it seems). So yeah, I'll get this to have it.
VS, you da best~

Mega works different in that it downloads the file first, then asks you to save the file AFTER it's downloaded. It has to do with how their encryption system works.
If you missed the prompt that asked you to save then you either somehow clicked off the window or you're using an unsupported (likely outdated) browser.
Did it pop up a message telling you to change/upgrade your browser? If so, that was the issue.
Otherwise, if you already saved the file just search for it dude

The Drag 'n' Drop (DnD) will only get you so far. Learning the programming language is absolutely required if you want to get the most out of the program. Everything I've needed it for thus far, Game Maker has been able to do with its programming language (GML), which is like, the lovechild of Java and Delphi. You can also extend Game Maker's functionality with the use of DLLS written in C++ or such.
One thing Game Maker doesn't support as of this moment are palettes. So if you have a sprite of a guy that will change from blue clothes to red clothes, for example, you'll have to make separate sprites/spritesheets for that, or make clever use of code and blending of clothing sprites that are drawn above the original clothes.

I thought that you're able to write custom shaders for game maker? If so, then of course you can support palettes.
Indeed game maker has support for custom shaders now (though I dunno if that's across all editions)
and of course, if you want to get the most out of anything, you'll need to learn that thing's advanced features and techniques, but for starting out, drag n drop will probably suffice

Was going to install and register it, until i got to the confirm email page. I didn't continue after that, and cancelled it.
